I think that Sti tested the TRD intake and moved it as standard in the revised model. No?

Hey old thread, but I did just add a TRD intake to my '17. Keep in mind I did NOT buy it for power, it was a maintenance item for me, as at the 42000km oil change I felt it was time to change the air filter... so why the heck not.
I'm fully aware of the minute % these things do for peak power on a dyno, and while I can't even flat it for the next few months due to being on narrow studded snow tires, I will say that part throttle response feels smoother, specially on shifts. I would dare speculate that it blips faster and feels more immediate when returning to the throttle after an upshift. That might just be a result of not having an elbow at all and having the throttle plate staring right into a LARGE air volume that's already past the filter and ready to go. From looking at many intakes, this one seems to have one of the shortest and straightest paths from throttle plate to air reserve. It combines the "straightest possible route" of things like an HKS racing suction, with a large panel filter and large air reserve instead of a small pod. Maybe that's how it goes... This is not at all a verdict on "how much power it makes" as I may never know, but as of 24 hours after install, I ain't mad about the response. |

I got it also as a dealer add-on for a roomier engine bay. Aware there is no real gain with the TRD but it's also not worse than stock. At least it's insulated from engine bay heat unlike some of the open ones like blitz or hks!

Yeah it cleans up the engine really well. Funny though how the red coupler pipe is closer to STi pink than our red intake's red.
