No I get it… PTuning has all of my monies, even down to the quarts of Amsoil… Just trying to be save on my daily driver rotors for winter time.
So redirecting this back around. For TRACK rotors, does it make a big difference to do slotted or cryo? |

I've always been under the impression that anything more than plain flat rotor was gimmicky at best, and just introduced extra failure point. That's why I've never tried them. Now you have my attention. Do you like them?

PTuning left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I called them about an issue on my FF kit(month old), sent a part back, never heard from them again even though I had a packing slip on the outside with all the info and contact info typed and printed, along with the part on the inside bagged with a copy of the same sheet. At least email me back

Drilled holes are a failure point. Slots... not so much. |

Hmmm... so... if I can't go bigger, and I'm getting the pucks hot enough to vaporize... I could get an extra smidge of grab by venting... Is that pretty much the idea?

I'm a bit (or even very) ignorant about brakes. What situation calls for slotted rotors vs blanks? Last edited by blsfrs; 09-24-2021 at 08:54 AM. Reason: wording |

Many bbk options don't have an option for a blank rotor replacement. Most all of them have only slotted or drilled ring replacement options (see Stoptech as a main example of this).

The RR Racing kit which uses Wilwood calipers and STI rotors does give you that flexibility.

So I just finished my hpde today and the track Marshall actually pulled me aside as I was packing up my stuff and he told me you were the only one I saw today that actually had glowing red rotors and I need to make sure I check brake and fluid when I get home. So does this call for slots or what do you think?

How bad is this???
Quote:
Slots won’t help with that. It’s really not an issue, you are just to the point you are putting a lot of energy into the rotors so they get hot and glow. Probably going to be going through consumables a bit quicker if you are getting them that hot. The only thing that will really help that is more mass IE big brake. And even at that it may not go away.
