TRD Spoiler bolts on a BRZ?

I've research for months, finally got a heavily USED TRD Lip.

Do people cut off the bolts? I want to keep them and put vinyl/tape over the trunk portion that will be hit by the bolts.

Any tips or suggestions? I'm using some thin 3M VHB tape. Should I take off the OEM weather stripper or put 3M on top of the weather strippering?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks!

I know I gotta de-badge too.

1: buy the 3m vhb tape locally. amazon should be ok, but i learned the hard way, it's such desirable tape that many vendors stock counterfeit-and-inferior double sided tapes without even knowing it. and you won't know the difference until it decides to spontaneously stop hitchhiking on your car.

2: use the 3/4-1" tape.

3: if the bolts are there, i would use them. if you don't want the bolts, get a replica off ebay. my trd-style duck tail was something like $89 pre-painted. all i had to do was apply the tape and stick it on.

Hey Thanks!

1. I already have it and tested on other parts, so far so good at 80mph.
2. I'll double up on the sizing.
3. Would the bolts fit into the BRZ holes? I'm pretty sure they don't but not confident.

Would you take off the Toyota weather stripping the 3M that? Most of it is 3M+Weather Stripping combined.

I put on a TRD tail and used the bolts plus 3m tape. I used the cardboard/paper template for the bolt holes super easy.

yeah, i'm just extremely paranoid about the tape now that i've gotten some crap rolls...

i haven't a clue on the bolt hole-ing. however, i can tell you that this spoiler fits the oem brz spoiler holes perfectly
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-13-20-...72.m2749.l2649

because of that i have a sneaking suspicion that they will likely line up-- subaru and toyota have a pretty decent history of not dramatically changing things just to screw people over(i'm looking at you GM).

the way i would check is to get a large piece of cardboard-- bigger than the spoiler. stab all the bolts through the cardboard, then remove the spoiler, and use the cardboard as a crude template to check the rough bolt location and spacing on the trunk.
