Will I still be able to order a new 2016 FRS later on in the year?

Currently wanting to get an Oceanic FRS around in the Summer time when I will be making my move to get the car. I'm not sure if Scion will start rolling out the 2017s by that time as I'm not big into the refresh design that looks to be a reality.

All of the Scion dealers within a close proximity all have the same three colors (Ablaze, Halo, and Black). There is an Oceanic that I'm watching at one of them, but if it is sold before I buy it, will the Dealer be able to help me by getting a new one from the factory or will they try to ship one down from Dealer to me which I know will cost more.

Scion rolled out the 16's mid-August and Subaru stopped Sold Orders in July.

I think both the 2017 FR-S & BRZ will roll out mid-July with Production in June. I glanced at a production schedule from SOA and it showed something like that but I can tell you it's either a May or June Production and a June or July delivery.

Edit: I see you are located in SoCal so you should have no problem finding the car you want. They stop orders about 1.5 (45 days) before the new model year arrived.

Have you seen something official from Toyota or Subaru? Not calling you out just want to make sure we haven't missed something. So far all I have seen is clickbait speculation.

Never been a big fan of buying the last year of any model. You pay new car pricing on a model that "may" look dated against the refresh or new gen.

About 6 weeks to build and 6 weeks to ship.
If there is a refresh coming up, they are unlikely to take orders for a model that is going out, BUT it can be different as it could just be a refresh. I would tell you to ask your dealer and be specific on the details(color) and dates/deadlines to order. I would personally wait for 2017 models as 2016 prices will drop.

Also you can't look at inventories months in advance for a low inventory model that doesn't sit in the lots more than a few weeks.

1. Order early, I would say May or earlier for 2016 model.
2. Wait for 2017's to come out and 2016 prices will drop, and hope you find the color.
3. Buy a 2017.

I saw those prototype pictures from that 2017 thread that's all. I was just basing off of those pics.

Oh ok just checking. The official info should be out soon if it follows the normal pattern so I was hoping you had seen something. Thanks.

If you get the scoop on the new one soon enough though you can sometimes end up with the better version in the old. Not all refreshes go in a good direction and it is not unknown for the new version to actually increase the desirability of the old.
It is a crap shoot though and waiting too long can restrict your options.

I hear what you're saying, but in my experience (mostly german cars; can't speak about Japanese cars), the refresh or the new model is typically better than the predecessor. Maybe not better in a subjective sense (look, sound, feel, etc. etc. But typically better. IMO.

It's normal that current owners will always be very skeptical regarding the "next . new" 86 .... if it will even happen.

Now if the OP wants the car NOW and doesn't really care about the "next, new car" .... then the OP can probably get a great deal on the car.

I bought my 2015 in December with a low promotional APR in the color I wanted. Best time to buy. There are still hundreds and hundreds of new 2015 models sitting on lots. Scarcity will not be a problem for 2016 models, especially in a southern California population center.

Dude you are in San Diego, we have so many Toyota/Scion dealers. You will not have to order it, if the local dealer doesn't have one they just deliver it from another lot, or you hop on the highway and drive to a dealer that has one.

Even then he'd still be better off waiting until the 2017 MYs come out because that would lower the prices more.

As soon as the 2016 was on the Scion Website I went to my dealer and ordered it. Took over a month and i had it by July 9th. I wouldn't think that would change.

If you're not going to be able to order one, you can ask to see if the dealer can locate one from another dealer and they may do a dealer-to-dealer transfer. Or you can just expand your search. I lot of people drive farther out to get a vehicle they want.
