Korean cars are the same way. They are sold for less in the US. Koreans are mad because of that. In fact, they are aware they pay significantly more for the same car in the native country.

One piece of information I should have added when I started this thread is that the publicized prices are actually significantly higher than what the enthusiasts in Japan were expecting (somewhat similar to the general ballpark consensus we have here). Is that necessarily a bad thing? I do not know. If you read into it too much, you could come up with a theory that it is Toyota's preemptive move to cover the anticipated losses to sell the same products cheaper in the US and other foreign markets. Who knows. All I can say is that the pricing efforts are all entangled at a global level and this must be one heck of a problem for Toyota to resolve.

This is by no mean a scientific/marketing oriented calculation, but could be not so far from reality...

I think the CR-Z has a good bit of mark-up, whereas Toyota said they would be selling the GT-86 at cost (more or less).

$21k is too low! People come to your senses! $22.5k is as low is it is going to be. Don't get made if it is $24k with some added stuff and y'all know what that stuff is!

I'm guessing there will only be 2 different trim levels available in Europe, I also think the price will be €30.000 and above.. Wich is a shame. 25k would make it a real bargain, but because everybody still looks at HP and laptimes.. the Megane RS will come out as a winner. Not for me, but €30k isn't considered a bargain for this car imo

There is actually a car like the Toyota gt86 in Europe?

There really is no competition to this car. One reason why the pricing will never be that low in Europe. It's only going to be low ($22.5k) in the USA because of scion.
