Ichi's becoming a boring suburbanite daddy.

Next, you'll be heading up your local HOA and complaining about 'those dang kids in the obnoxious cars'

Doesn't your wife have a WRX? Just trade that in lol.

Good job her!

That reminds me. Had a 89th birthday party for my grandfather this past weekend. My uncle saw the new truck, and got to talking vehicles. I voiced my displeasure on how I couldn't get it in stickshift. He laughed and said 'once you get older you'll like not having to deal with a clutch'. Just sorta irritated me. Never once has a clutch been a hassle I've regretted.. in a lot of ways, I feel it keeps my legs equally toned... Automatics are just so mindless... I end up manually shifting it just to do something...

She was same. At first she didn’t want to drive MT… but I told her if she want WRX/STI (she like color WRB) she gotta learn how to drive MT. Also case of emergency, she need to know how to drive my car, which is also MT. She started learning on the Fall & by the Spring time she bought herself MT WRX.

I encourage that behavior. No one's taken me up on letting me teach them to drive stick.

But I always tell people the first lesson is "clutch in, rev to 6k, and dump the clutch." Everyone's always worried about hurting the car, or doing something crazy. Get the crazy out of the way first, and the rest is easy.

I see your uncle’s point. Yes some cars have a heavy clutch and traffic time can be a hassle. Especially if you have knee issue (like me), traffic time in the winter can be a total nightmare… but the twin got so damn light clutch, it’s not even a workout.

3 wks ago, my wife had left knee surgery (torn ACL), so she can’t drive MT cars for another week or so. Currently we’re borrowing sis-in-law’s Leggy & it’s been nice for her… but she said it’s weird not knowing how fast you’re going. When you drive MT, unconsciously we know how fast we’re going cuz whatever gear we are in + rpm… vs AT/CVT, you’re shit out of luck other than look at the cluster lol

She should try crossing legs! Clutch with right foot, gas with left.

It's an interesting time. I usually do it on the dark empty back roads when I start getting bored driving in a straight line.

Oh I thought it was fantastic. It was her first uphill start at a stop sign in the Hyundai Accent I had (hilarious little car, highly recommend in MT) so I didn't care what she did to it. She was just embarrassed to do it in front of a bunch of our neighbors/kids.
