I somehow fail to see enough basis warrantying witchhunt of posts in latest pages. Nor do i see mentioned rudeness. If anything, i've seen actually noticeably more offensive and of patronizing sarcasm posts by few other vendor reps on this forum sometimes, and it never rised such fuss in past. Condescending? Rather informative, sharing bits from wast experience & expertise at field and with real results to back one's words. 949R, CSG, RCE, Essex and several other vendor reps, they do fine job babying people with no own experience nor results, rather head full of many common misconceptions/myths paired with high ego. These vendors do great job on educating community on important bits and helping to not do some common mistakes wasting money on sometimes opposite to expected effect.
Also failing to see what exactly posting rules on this forum that vendor reps contractually signed were broken in this development project build thread. There was some stated obligation whom/how/using what words/with what allowed share of humour/when to reply? 949R just voluntarily lets in on some nice freebie information on development process of some future products in this particular build thread and again voluntarily answers to questions he finds interesting to answer, shares info that he likes to share, if fashion he likes. That feels nice to me as many vendors develop their products in completely closed manner. This thread seems no official support channel or vendor PR thread (i failed to notice announcement anywhere of it becoming such), yet some felt offended by so little and crying for some highly regulated communication way by unknown specified by whom and publicized where rules, at wrong type of thread from party that is not obliged to do yet for free shares valuable nfo. If i'd be more into conspiracy theories, such overblown witchunt smells a bit for some hidden agenda . Or at very least they never were interested in these products in first place, so out of boredom started trolling on basis of thought out rudeness. I hope that such behavior of few won't completely rob 949R from motivation to develop quality products for twins in future that many in this community may benefit of. |

Guys, you have every right to disagree with me. I have my opinion and it’s unlikely to change.
I’ll bow out now before the thread is derailed any further. There IS lots of good info here. |

I thoroughly enjoy the information that the OP is giving freely.
Honest is refreshing, as apposed to the marketing and backless claims from other vendors. Thanks 949 for your time, resources and honesty. It's amazing what good research and sound engineering principles gets you. For the win.

As I start my masters, I realized having 4 cars doesn't make much sense so I am offloading my S2K and Rotrex 1.8L VVT swapped miata (Same forum name on MT.net) for a single GT86.

At Buttonwillow (13CW) an S1 runs 1:52-1:53. S2s are in the 58's. Sonny's current record, same config, is low 1:58s. |

Naturally-aspirated (N/A) Streets of Willow CW Lap Record
New 86 N/A record for SoW CW during XIDA testing last week. Not 86Cup Mod trim because it is using RE71R for this lap (normally used 100 treadwear for points limits), but it is a legal 86Drive Challenge Touring class trim.

Have you guys considered (or tried) fitting 17x10 6UL's on it? That would be quite the setup if it could be made to work.

10 inch wheels on our to-do list for next year. Very small market for that so we are instead focused on what more people need, which is a decent baseline suspension setup.

I know this is off track for this thread, could you offer any other initial thoughts on this?? 17" or 18" ? Target street tire size? Offsets??

We stuck with 17" because of the much wider variety of tires available and lower cost per tire. There are some small performance gains to be had with an 18" but the cost of both the wheels and a tires goes up. 18" also have fewer tires to choose from. The next generation 6UL coming in 2020 will have 18" options for the 86. We feel the optimum 18" tire size for peak performance on an <210whp 86 is a 255/35/18 on an 18x10 with staggered offsets. Specific offsets TBA when we release our wheels. For a daily driver where ride quality is a significant concern, stick with 17x8 with 225/45, 235/40 or 245/40 and stay away from 200 treadwear tires.

Unknown at this point. That's at least a year in the future from today's date. Our tools for 17 inch wheels will be new by then. Clearing the PP brake would mean making a separate tool for lower offset versions. We'll see.
