Yeah I'm at maybe 0.2" rake at the hub to fender so probably zero rake at the welds.

I think if I recall I'm at 12.75/12.95 now. Or 12.7/12.9. Something like that.

After ~3 months, I finally had a test and tune event to dial everything in correctly. We had 3 runs for each session and 4 sessions, so it was easy to make a single change, do 3 runs together, then make another single change.

Settled at 12 3/4" F, 13 1/8" R (to the hub) for ride heights before the event based on the feedback here, near a full tank. At 1/4 tank, it's closer to 13 1/4" R.

Damper settings on the 6k/6k RCE SS-1's I messed around with and found the 8/10 click from full stiff (20 clicks total range) recommendation they had listed for the track made the car super tight feeling. I lowered the front to make it the same 10/10 which felt better and then went to 8 from full stiff in the rear while keeping the front at 10. Car felt MUCH better being stiffer in the rear by two clicks. Drove much more like the DS car I've been used to, just with more overall grip.

Another oddball I found was moving from 30/28psi to 32/30 netted a better feel and actually better time by about 0.5 seconds consistently with 245 Yoks. With 30 only in the front, at the limit the tires would get that horrible understeer noise/feeling that you overdrove and at 32, it was gone doing the same inputs/speeds. I know STR Miata guys run at 30/28 and I've seen others run that low, but 32/30 seemed much better for me. Possibly because the lower pressures were too vague in feeling.

Not gonna lie - I was really questioning going to STX after the car's been driving horribly for ~10 events now this year. I had so much damn fun at the this test and tune getting it to actually work properly.

Group question - what tire pressures do you use and what balance on your coilovers (softer or stiffer front to rear)?

It's fun hearing how adding rear shock made the car more confidence inspiring and easier to drive.

People are so deathly afraid of rear rebound and I get it, but it's your friend. Too little rear rebound makes the rear lazy and can't keep up with the front so it tends to get super snappy in transition or late in the entry phase of a corner. Add rear rebound and that snappy behavior goes away... too much will make the car loose on initial turn in for sweepers, sure, but that's generally a long ways away from "enough rear rebound to make it not lazy"

Also, tire pressures... with enough shock, running lower pressure has been faster for me. We're using 26/24 PSI on both my wife's RX-8 and my XA BRZ.

When I ran square (400/400), I messed around from 25 to 35 and it seemed to make no difference on the clock for me. I settled on 32/32 for optimal wear.

I'm at 350/500 now, but I don't have anything meaningful to offer on pressures. I've mostly been playing with shock this year.

I run 29psi front and rear (warm) on my A052s.
I get very even heat across the fronts with that and my -4.3 camber.

Keep in mind most shocks are valved different front to rear so asking people with shocks that aren't identical to yours is only vaguely relevant to your shocks. Unless you're going as far as actually comparing shock dynos.

But in general with MCS I have approximately equal settings front and rear, sometimes a click or two higher on either end depending how the car feels. Generally the rear is the one that's stiffer if one end will be stiffer.

For tire pressure at about 27 for me is when it's too little pressure. It's fast but I don't like how it feels, it's vague as you said and it responds slower. Anything above that seems to be fine. I generally run 29/28, but recently at prosolos I've been lazy and letting pressures just come up and they're solidly into the 30's and it feels the same and the times are the same.

Tire pressure gauges can be off by a couple psi so always take tire pressure advice on the internet with a grain of salt.

What’s your setup like?

Bars, spring rates, dampeners, etc

I’d be more than glad to start one. Do I need admins to flag it as tagged? Or can I just go ahead and create it? I’m in STR.

Nah just go make the thread in this subsection. Add a title and first post.
