The prior race history is the easiest part. If you compete in a season of SCCA Solo racing that would suffice. The entry fees and car prep requirements are usually what get most people off the mountain.

I have a friend from high school that was a crew chief for a PPIHC Team for two years before getting behind the wheel himself. I can bug him for what all it takes for a person (not a sponsored team) to get selected if people are interested.

I, for one, would be interested to hear what he has to say.

This would be fun in a kart.. Ill have to check the fees and regulations, I have competed in wheel to wheel races that should count for race experience.

Really inspiring video, and very well-produced. Congratulations to the team for making it and putting in such a solid effort. Thanks to you for all the production work. :-)

And I agree with the poster above - the graphics on the car looked fabulous.

Heres what i got from my friend:

Anything and everything you've done is race experience. They want things like titles in SCCA regions etc. As far as getting it approved, just proof you know how to race... And getting it in on time. Its about 6 months too late for '14 but no time like now to go get "experience" for '15

Thanks for the followup. The rules are posted here for anyone else who is interested:

The safety requirements mean you have to have a purpose built race car. I was also shocked to see that practice days, even for people who have already payed the $1400 registration fee, are $700 each.

I'm speaking on behalf of the team here, but we saw the Tomei BRZ. I think they were in a different class however.

I'm sorry if you didn't like my commentary -this video wasn't meant to be me showing their lap time, but supposed to be a story about the team.

If you want to skip all the team stuff, then you can see the full lap up Pikes Peak my by PoweredByAloe here:
