Knocking sound post recall, now i am told my motor needs to be replaced

Hi all, i hope someone can assist. I’ve been hearing a knocking sound and I took my car in for a service. I mentioned the noise, they’ve investigated, and said that I need to replace my motor. I don’t have the details as yet, but I find this very concerning especially also after the recall was done. There is no way I can fork out cash to replace my motor. Any advice please???

Sux but it's true. My car has been sitting in the driveway since August when the motor grenaded due to the recall work.

This is a common scenario. They screwed up and got sealant in the engine when replacing the timing cover and the sealant clogged the oil passages and starved the rod bearings of oil and they are now toast. They ruined my car also. I had a good race shop build an incredible new motor and now have confidence.

What dealer was it? It's good to let people know who NOT to go to. It was Irvine Toyota that ruined mine.

Ok, this is twice that I read you advising this. I hope like hell that your sale included a full disclosure.

The sealant issues are not from the new sealant they put on whenre-assembling the engine, its from the sealant debris that falls into the oil pan when removing the old sealant and isn't cleaned properly.

A secondary issue is techs not shimming and adjusting the valves properly that causes excess noise that is sometimes misdiagnosed as rod knock.

For those of you with noisey/failed engines who want to get rid of the car (In the U.S.) PM me.

Admittedly, it's not my place to judge. Leaves a knot in my stomach.

Carvana's problem now. The buyer will hold THEM accountable. They'll need to fix it or have to endure the internet shaming wrath which won't be in their best interest.

lol u mad bro?

i sold it to carvana as is.. they sent over an "expert" to check out the car and he approved the sale... if they ran a carfax, they would see that the recall was done... why would i be a scum if they had all these data points in front of them? And TBH, the only info they asked for when selling the car are year, model, mileage and condition... 4 drop downs... again, i fail to see how i am a scum lol

I get it. Hell, if that's their business model... At least it's not selling to an uninformed private party. This whole recall thing sickens me. I knew it was going to be a shit show the minute I had heard about it. Moreover, that it was a totally unnecessary one. So sad.
