Swapped out both flat idler pulleys tonight. One had started getting noisy. It was getting hot and started spinning lube as worn bearings do. The other was still quiet but hours are hours. Grooved plastic one was like new. So was the tensioner.

Very lucky, our company ran a charter service out of Lexington. Mostly Bell jet rangers but had a long ranger a clipped wing DC3 with picture (long) windows and a Convair 440.
My wife made me give up real ones when we got married so I switched to radio control.
If I was 20 years younger (ya ya) ok 25, I think I would get an Icon A5. You only need a sport license.
We used the fixed wings to fly emergence parts in and out of small southern air ports. I often wet for tech work. The rotary's were leased to coal mining operations and TV stations.
When the birds were in the air the professional pilot would let us fly them from the second seat.
You would be surprised at how many P-51s are hiding in these small airports.
I live south of Oshkosh so even if I can not get up to EAA we have a lot of birds fly by.

See you're doing it wrong. As long as you don't fly commercial, no TSA to deal with, just drive up to the plane and go. Go out to your local flight school and take a lesson.

I fly a fair bit. Often 3 or 4 times a year (we have travel cutbacks this year so staying put) for work and a couple of times for vacation and have never had any issue with TSA. Just leave some time and have a bit of patience and it really is a non issue. I always give myself an extra hour but I think the longest I have ever waited in a TSA line up is 20 minutes. Even at the worst hubs (Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto) I have never had a long wait. Now, customs can be a whole different ball game!

I feel like a giant slug this morning. For some reason I felt the need to have half a bag of salt & vinegar chips, candy, and a mocha almond fudge ice cream cone while watching the flash last night.

I don't fly very often, but when I have, I have had the same experience. They say to get there 2 hours before your flight, and I'm thru TSA in 10 minutes. Now I get to sit for almost 2 hours where a hamburger and a beer cost $56.

Since most of my travel is for work I don't care if the burger is $100 since I don't pay anyway. I never, ever, ever, will drink beer while traveling by air. It would just be the time I have a couple that the whole trip will be through turbulence and they won't let you get up to go to the head. Just not a risk my poor old bladder can take anymore.

Lol. Reminds me of last time I was in Chicago on business with the county. Our per diem for dinners was like $28. Where the hell can you get a decent dinner in Chicago for $28?

I'm with you with the liquids. Last time I few my flight was early in the morning. My wife asks me if I want coffee. Nope. I'll have some when I get to Seattle.
