I had to pay my city $3500 too and when I got out of jail they repaved the road so I’m guessing I got fucked and paid for the new road. But I mean I learned my lesson. Just do it on a backroad where nobody gives a fuck. Or don’t do it at all.

Sorry to hear that, sure seems extreme unless there was some "lives in danger" attached to it somehow.

As far as the insurance it sounds like you are stuck if you've already shopped it around. Honestly, if it were me, I'd have to park the car until my rates dropped, or buy a beater for what a couple of months of insurance payments would be.

Well you gotta pay insurance when you’re financing a car unfortunately.

There's an option that solves that problem too, but it would depend on how upside down you are on the car I suppose.

Spending $9,600 a year to insure a $25,000 car would definitely make me give it up, but I hear you.

But seriously you are a high risk and in a “Sports Car”! You are going to have to do some shopping around once the points drop off. Then you will have to stay claim and ticket free for a while and keep working your rates down. The only other way to drop you rates at your age is to get married. I don’t recommend that option at your age, it is cheaper to pay the insurance company!
HOW could you EVEN consider THAT as an option? -

hmmm..... if you are living at home with your mother, "move your address" to somewhere else. "Sell" your car to your mother. Then just drive it.

(you didn't hear that from me - )

They are not charging him to insure his car. They are charging him to insure the $50k car and family of 4 he may kill when he is driving recklessly. My guess is his liability will be high in that vehicle also. I am not saying OP is reckless now but the insurance company has tagged him as a high liability. Time for a $500 shit box you can get liability on. Park you car until you can get you record improved. Storage insurance is cheep.

FYI in the future check insurance rates on cars prior to purchase.

Yea I get that, that's how insurance works. The liability portion will be high regardless, even with a $500 burner car.

I agree. If you're getting screwed that badly you need to drive a cheap car for a bit and not crash.

Or.....get married I guess.

Sell the car and ride a bike. The days I have to drive to work are the worst days. 9 miles each way for me, everyone seems to have an excuse why they can't ride a bike to work

Can’t ride a bike down 75 I do electrical work so one day I might be 15 miles from the house and another might be 50. A bike isn’t ethical unless you work at an office and live 5 minutes from your office or if you live in the city.
