I'm fairly sure, about 5 seconds later, some big Xs went through the three of those.

4U-GSE.... that makes no sense in terms of Toyota naming standards... the S would imply Supercharged.

Edit: Nevermind, that would be Z. S is swirl intake?

what's up with ft86 videos and depressing music? That sounded like the music they play in funeral parlors.

Got to be a contrarian on that exhaust note from the vid - sounds way too much like the fart-canned 15 year old rusted Civics I see/hear on the roads every so often. Much prefer the more mellow standard exhaust note. (Although I would like the option of quad pipes - I know it's absurd for a 200hp engine but it looked so good in that brochure!)

You didn't like that Yamaha tuned sound but you prefer quad pipes?

That's like not liking a supermodel because their photos have been airbrushed but having a girl friend who has breast augmentation...

That exhaust note is pure sex... Now I'm not even sure if I want to change the exhaust... Damn that is a dilemma...

In the Toyota 86 presentation video, Tetsuya Tada (5:11- 6:10) explains that high power turbo, high grip tires and AWD not only increase an automobiles price and weight but also reduce the fun of driving.

Where did you get Yamaha?!?! There is no connection between Yamaha and either Subaru or Toyota in this car in any release info. That is a rumor.

The engine code for this H4 was so obvious it just slipped right past me.

The 2U was discontinued in 1976, and was the last (only) 'boxer' engine developed by Toyota.

touche Toyota....touche

also the exhaust note is INCREDIBLE! I know what addon I'll be getting at the dealership.
