I completely agree with rikdrt1. See pic at left for credentials. I'm really quite broken up about having to sell mine, but SWMBO says it's gotta go to make room for the BRZ.

Everyone's got their opinion, but I've never met an AE86 owner that thinks they're overrated.

AE86, like most older Toyota sporty cars of that era are hard to describe to people that have never owned/driven them. While Im not a Toyota fanboy, nor a real Toyota enthusiast (this is my first Toyota car ever) I have driven several Corollas (85, 86, 101 models) as well as AW11s.

I can say that they are all a different breed of cars from a different time. Simple, easy to drive, fun to drive, nearly indestructible, nimble, light. Similar to the Mazda Miata, its hard for me to not smile when driving an AE86 or even an AW11. This seems to be more true for the AW11, but that car felt truly alive in similar manner to the old NA chassis Mazda Miata and to a lesser extent, the AE85/6.

look into the Camero for 8 months along with the frs and brz last November. The camero I felt small in for me and when I was looking out the window it felt like the front of the car was 10 feet long. I dont understand why people go throught 8 cars in one year just to find the right car......do the research first

I test drove a Camero, Charger, and a Challenger at a track.... It was one of those manufacturer test drive events with over 100 cars. Honestly, while it was fun going fast straight, it was sooo boring doing those turns....

I had more fun in the SUVs they had there since we were sliding around on the seats when we on the course...

Sadly, most of the US roads are straight lines and not for 86...muscle cars are better on those freeways and stop light to stop light. Owning a BRZ/ FRS needs to find some twisty roads to appreciate the car.

I don't get it. I'd rather do 60mph through a corner than do 120mph in a straight line. Especially when the one car weighs 1000lbs less than the other.

I don't get why people still like it's look. When it first came out, I admit that I liked it. After the first year or 2 though, it just didn't age well. At least it's not a blatant design history rape like the Challenger.....

I'm somewhere close to that myself. I want a pocket rocket out of the box WITH tremendous corner carving capabilities. A lither, more advanced STI that had a more grown up boy-racer look to it is something I hope for everyday. A torquier and more powerful BRZ wouldn't be bad either.

I just don't understand everyones hangup on the hp. 200hp in a 2700lb car is plenty enough to have fun. Slow car fast vs Fast car slow.

He isn't the only one. A lot of people have been offloading FRS and BRZ's with low, low miles. I think a lot of people wanted more hp(250hp)/torque(200-225tq)/great handling but got caught up in the handling hype of this car. Sometimes handling isn't the only thing owners are hung up on like most of you guys on here. And it's even worse if your commute is 10% curvy roads and you barely do no tracking at all.

Recently I got caught up in the hype of the Wii U being a more serious gaming machine and I offloaded that shit fast!

From his comments it sounds more to me like he would have been happy had he just put stickier tires on.

"Sad? Why sad?:

Sad because you bought a car at MSRP or MSRP+ and then had to sell it for thousands less?
Sad because you bought a new car that further reduced your savings?
Sad because you really liked the car but other circumstances persuaded you to buy a different car that you could not resist or got 'sold' another car from some aggressive salesperson?
Sad because you were appealing to members of this forum just to get a bunch of biased personal comments and laughed at the comments for entertainment?
Sad because you wanted to promote comment to increase the post rate of the forum? or
sad because you wrecked the car?

As a (former) Camaro enthusiast, I hafta say that the 5th gen Camaro is the biggest letdown since they stopped building the 4th gen in 2002.

Every generation of Camaro got sleeker than the last, until the brick-mobile 5th gen came out. The 3rd gen IROC-Z and 4th gen SS had drag coefficients of .34, whereas the new Camaro is .35. And what a pig it is! The 3rd gen IROC-Z and the 4th gen SS weighed around 3,3-3,400lbs depending on transmission/options; the new SS weighs nearly 3,900lbs! The only things that have gotten better about the car are the engine and independent rear suspension. Driving one is like peering out of a battletank. There is no visibility!

Conclusion:

probably a combination of all of the above! in the final analysis, we all have to answer to ourselves, and irrespective of the reasoning, have a moral obligation to ourselves,AND others, to do what's best for US.
