I'm 62, but I only have the car because I'm a street bum and a couple of years ago some guy threw me the keys and said it was mine. I live in the back seat now. I drive it when I can get gas money from people at the freeway off-ramp. Actually, I make about $75 an hour doing that, so I just do it a few hours a week. The car is a lot of fun.
Hope I never get pulled over, though. I don't really have any paperwork and the tabs are a bit old. |

58 years old. I'm an accountant for a college in Florida. Moved down from Massachusetts a year and a half ago. Best part of the move was I could now drive a rear wheel drive car year-round and live to tell about it!

Holy old thread! Apparently I voted on this a while ago, although I think I moved up an age bracket. 21, student, Engineering Management major. I've probably had my car longer than most at this point, hell most of the owners I knew when I first got the car have sold theirs....

I'm 31 for a little while longer, lost my Toyota of nearly 13 years (bought new in late '02) about a year and a half ago to a rear end collision that totaled it. I dealt with a stopgap jalopy of a car for about a year and a half, biding my time and trying to get stable again to where I could comfortably get an FR-S, figuring I should buy myself a car I wanted and would enjoy without having to think of compromises like kids, playing taxi for friends, snow, etc. Of course halfway through my plan I find out Scion was going to die off, and the FR-S was in jeopardy. When they announced the Toyota move I was initially happy, expecting just a rebadging, but then they did the facelift, which I didn't care for as much as the original look. I also had no desire to get a BRZ. I thought I might be SOL getting the car I wanted, and have to get an 86. Overall, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I wouldn't be quite as pleased with it. Thankfully I managed to somehow find one of the last FR-Ses before they really went away, 3 months after Scion officially hung up the apron, and can't complain about how it worked out. Didn't get 100% what I wanted, but pretty darn close, and at a price that made the missing aspects acceptable. It'll eventually see Toyota badges, since it should've come to the US as a Toyota in the first place 3 years ago.
Now that that chatter is over, as for what I do, I work in aerospace currently, doing project management. Having a very livable daily driver to commute in that can also be fun when you want it to be, I feel I definitely bought the right car. My girlfriend normally isn't crazy about 2-door cars, but surprisingly she loves the FR-S (win!!). And if kids are in the near future, I have back seats perfectly suited to carrying them, so sorry Toyota, but I won't be trading and buying a Sienna any time soon.
