WRX STI S209 is coming

It looks that the S209 is coming for the first time outside Japan. There was an official video by Subaru showing a camouflaged STI and mentioning they'll do an anouncement in January. What do you think of this move?

Here is also an interesting review of the previous S208 Japan only model:

I has a 15 STI and always wished they sent the 208 here.

The STI has turned into a bit of a pig though, the RA was a expensive marketing stunt, but the S208, now that is a cool car.

If you need a AWD 4 door car that seats 5 you cannot go wrong with the Subaru AWD, now with the S209 at the pinical of performance.

Would I buy one, no, where I live now there is no requirement for AWD.

Pretty sure they'll ask for $50k-$60k for it, which I doubt many people are willing to cough up "just for a Subaru."

I'm sure it's gonna be in the same range of the Subaru STI Type RA, high 40 before just hitting 50.

The real question is if we're going to get the EJ257 or the proper EJ207 they get over in Japan. From the footage in the video, we already know we aren't getting the good Recaro seats; just the same ones that are optional in the standard STI, which aren't anything special.

If it comes with the same EJ25, like I think it will, I can't call it an S20anything.

I hope I'm wrong though. But at the same time, I don't. I just got rid of my '16 STI last week and had I known about a proper STI with the proper engine coming here, I would've held out for a little longer lol. But we'll see.

Just for a Subaru? Would you prefer to buy an AWD Tesla instead? I was impressed of the very bad build quality! Check some comparison with the Subaru Crosstrek ...

I actually watched that earlier. But like I said, I can already see people using that phrase of "for a Subaru?" if the S209 is priced where I think it will be. Then again, it is a niche car, and not one for the "everyday folks."

I'd rather have a Civic Type R to be honest.

Isn't the new RA-R cooler?

Everytime I walk into the Tesla store in the mall and sit in one the build quality is literally out of this world (i.e. hell).

What does the statement in the bottom, left corner mean?
They are just telling people in Japan or it will only be sold in Japan?
