Openflash recovery

I’d like to just confirm one thing with the recovery process. If I do proceed, does recovering my OFT completely wipe out all data (as in a factory reset essentially). Since my tablet is married to my car’s ecu, will this recovery delete my original file off it?. I made a mistake of not backing my original tune onto my computer, so the only backup I have is on my OFT. Basically I want to know that if I do recover my OFT does my original tune and all the data on it get completely wiped.. if so, then I’ll be stuck on the current tune that I’m on..(

Yes, the tablet will be as if you've bought it new.
Your current tune on the car will be your "original" tune as well.

Luckily there are some options you can try to remove the tune.
Option 1, go to your dealer and asked them to (force) flash an stock tune to it
Option 2, find somebody with a tactrix cable and flash a stock tune that way.

Then connect your OFT and let it read the stock tune, etc.
When uploading new tunes to the tablet, disconnect the internet so it can't update anymore.That bug is at least 3 years old and still not fixed.

For example, if I was to get a new ecu. Would the tune be removed or be the same?

The tune is written to the ECU, so if you change the ECU it will be using the tune stored on that ECU. If it's a new ECU it's going to be the OEM tune.

Hell yea.
I tried the recovery process and it’s saying “Serial number not enabled for recovery (-1)”
I’ve contacted oft again to see why but do you know why it would say this? Or any solutions?

I'e never used the recovery tool, but my (wild) guess is that they put your Serial number in a online database and the program looks at that database if your serial number is in it.
So either you don't have internet, the serial number isn't in the database (did you send it to OpenFlash?) or the databaseserver is down.

They put my Sn in the enabled devices this morning and tried it, it still didn’t let me. I gave up for the day and a few minutes ago plugged it in to see if it would work. BOOM it finally let me recover it, it’s now saying that it is new and ready to read. Now I just got to install a new ecu to get it properly tuned up!

As far as I know, yes. The tablet will be erased and is going to be a "new" empty device. The tune on the ECU will be the one that has been written to it, and stored as the "original" tune.
You can reflash using a tactrix or asking the dealer.

Can someone share the instructions for OFT recovery please?

I have been having issues with the connection between the OFT and my car and I have submitted the recovery form on the OFT website. They said they have actioned it, but did not provide any instructions. How do I kick the recovery off?
