Anybody “12-16 clicks” from full stiff?
Just curious if anyone has their coil over adjustments “12-16 clicks from full stiff”? If there’s a thread about this already please refer it to me and I’ll delete this one.
I am currently 8 clicks from full stiff. It rides great. Just curious if anyone has any feedback. There’s a lot of bumpy roads where I live and I’m not sure if it’ll exactly help. I feel like most people are 6-8 clicks from full stuff. How does it ride? Does it feel like a boat? Or is there no major difference? I’m currently lowered on tein flex a’s. |

Whats your coilover? How many clicks are there? 16? 24? 32? Check your owners manual for recommendations. If they dont have any, find a better coilover company.

I lost track of how many clicks. Just kept adjusting until I reached a good compromise

Probably should have lead with or even put in the title what coilovers you have. Setting will vary hugely from brand to brand even mode to model.
Rule of thumb is set to the recommended settings that come with the coilovers, make sure you have a good alignment and then make small adjustments from there. You should learn pretty fast what you like the feel of and honestly for driving on the street it won't matter too much where you end up.

The OP has Tein Flex A.
My issue with this thread is this. IN CONJUNCTION WITH?!? I hope to not be banned but this type of thread is completely ridiculous and the fact that these types of questions are allowed to be an open thread here is embarrassing. In. Conjunction. With. I can answer his question with ease. Just need a few details the OP intentionally omitted to fill in the conjunction with... Tyres? This isn't a yes/no, dumbass. Brand. Size. Something to help fill in the blanks would be oh so handy. Tread left of said tyres? Wheels? Again. Not a yes/no question as I do that thing with my spoon in the bowl to get the most I can to spoon feed you the biggest bite I can for the big boy that you are!! I'm making airplane noises and pretending the spoon is an airplane. Such a big boy in such a small high chair. Current suspension set-up? (In conjunction with the Flex A, obviously) Control Arms? Camber? Bracing? - From front to rear... brand would be oh so handy as well. Usage? Goals? Bushings? - From front to rear... brand would be oh so handy as well. Sway bars? - From front to rear... brand would be oh so handy as well. End links? - From front to rear... brand would be oh so handy as well. Aero? - From front to rear... brand would be oh so handy as well. Roads? Mileage? OH! Dammit! In conjunction with would include performance upgrades too... Header? Exhaust? Intake? (You didn't buy the intake manifold spacers, did you? I feel like you did) Tune? Elevation? Seasons? Ambient temps? OH! Dammit! Brakes? Clutch? SS upgrade on one, both, or the other? Short shift? Are you a part of a club? Did they nominate you for 'lead dog' for all the drives? Sorry, not sorry... how many clicks is bar none the stupidest question I've ever heard. And I'm the one that'll probably be warned or banned and the millennial idiot will be again rewarded for his total ignorance. Last edited by therealstoly; 11-03-2020 at 08:59 PM. |

Most coilovers have a 'recommended' setting, which serves as a good starting point. Also, coilovers are not linear in terms of click adjustment - each click does not soften / stiffen by the same expected amount - so going by clicks isn't exactly the right way to compare settings, unless you're comparing to the same coilover.
It also depends on your road conditions as well. On recommended settings on mine, the settings are too stiff which the tyres had difficulty maintaining grip. In a corner it would hop and skip, with VSC going everywhere. Loosening it a few clicks solved the problem. |

Yeah it was a poorly posted question. Yeah he needed to add a lot more info. Yeah he could have done some searching. Is there really any point berating the kid? Honestly do you think your energy was well spent typing out such a lengthy reply? OP clearly is inexperienced but if he is asking questions, he is at least trying to learn a little.

wait, are we talking about out-of-touch millennials or out-of-touch boomers? i forgot. "the more things change the more things stay the same." you're a moron, i'm a moron, we're all morons. so let's celebrate the fact that we're all still spinning on this super-heated rock despite our best efforts, and acknowledge that not everyone knows everything, most of us get it wrong more often than we get it right, and sometimes every once in a while, one of us cave men needs to stoop to the level of asking for help on how to do something that everyone else "already knows".

I only use three settings on my shocks: full hard, full soft, or half way between full soft and full hard. I don't have the skill level to benefit from finer adjustment.
Read this to learn how to pick a setting: https://nasaspeed.news/tech/suspensi...s-on-handling/ And a side note... I have made a point of only taking performance advice from people who have some trophies in their cabinet. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk |
