Think STi and WRX, not replacing but complementing. Edelbrock and a few others come close with their kits, but as someone that has gone through J02 (mandated by state for registration) I would be pissed to have to return to stock for the recall...

Yes, I realize they would not sell a large number of these compared to the base model, and it has probably been "spreadsheeted" to death for return on investment...

But it is what I WANT and would buy... even if the price overlapped the low end Supra (which I have no desire to own)
I get it, it’s what you would want or pay for. But the OEM looks across the market and there is not enough people to justify the huge expense. If the current car was 35k it might not sell because of competition. The price point is very important and you can’t get everything at the current price point.

All the thing really needs is some more oomph to appear a little more serious. If its 2 tenths quicker than the miata the journalists would be at least temporarily unable to call it "nice but underpowered".

This is definitely an interesting read on subaru today, best car does seem a little confused though haha
assuming this isn't media-speak, that is extremely odd news. so a subaru plant is supposedly going to end up producing a toyota-only product? i don't recall a scenario where that's happened before.

I don't really see it as completely out of the question. Toyota owns 20%+ stake in Subaru and if the cars are selling well enough in Eight Six guise I don't see why they wouldn't keep building them even if only for Toyota exclusively.

20% of ownership in the parent company is enough to dictate what another company does with their production line? yes, it's already tooled for the job, but it seems like a stretch..

So what this says is that Subaru does not have enough fleet carbon credits to offset whatever they are doing to the car so they will drop it for now. It makes sense since they will want to keep those credits for the higher volume models.
Toyota on the other hand has enough hybrids to keep the credits covered and maintain the model.

Although still clickbait and I remain as skeptical as ever this one at least agrees with what I thought was going to happen at some point before 2025. It also supports what I have said about mileage and emissions control being limiting factors in how far they will ever take these cars.

I'm pretty sure subaru actually built Camrys for Toyota until either the newest or previous gen, could be wrong though.

2007 to 2016 but only in the US plant.
But... it was just a contract not Toyota forcing them to do anything. Happens all the time with many makes and models.
