My injectors came in today and I was able to fire the car right up first try after adjusting the fuel table and injector info a bit. Only put about 15 miles on the car as it was 10pm and I had no tools with me like an idiot. Everything seems great though aside from the tune (due to my 550cc injectors).

My IRP shifter ended up working out just fine after adjusting the base plate.

The car is really loud (exhaust) and it’s almost as if I have solid mounts with the amount of vibrations in the car.

To give a little background on what the car used to be; 2017 86 with Perrin intake, Crawford intake spacers, borla uel Catless header, Perrin over pipe, catless mid pipe, and tomei 60r catback. Also the car had the IRP shifter, Perrin engine mounts, and e85 tune.

100 miles before I pulled the engine I switched over to an Invidia n2 catback and the fa20 was the quietest it had been in a few years. And that is the catback that’s currently on the car. I feel like the car is currently just as loud as when the fa20 was full catless UEL with the tomei. Just has a deeper sound to it luckily.

I’ve only done a few full throttle pulls and probably haven’t went over 6k as I’m still working on the tune, but so far it feels faster than it ever has. It will actually start spinning the tires if I roll into the throttle in 2nd gear and it never spun in any gear previously (I’m on 285 continental DWS tires).

I did a quick little video and posted it on my Instagram - ebush86 but my phone cut it off before I really got to rev it due to apple saying my storage is full when it isn’t.

I’ve heard the vibrations are really bad on these engines, not sure what you can do, maybe a ati dampened crank pulley?

Not pumped to hear about the vibrations. What's your interior situation?

I think the only advantage for keeping the fuel pump ECU is that the pump isnít as loud at low loads or startup, and it may prolong the life of the fuel pump. The disadvantage seems to be that the fuel pump ECU could limit fuel voltage based on OEM specified parameters by the factory main ECU, which could cause a lean situation on performance vehicles beyond the factory power levels. If the Haltech would send a 12V signal constantly anyways then the fuel pump ECU is redundant and just represents something that could fail and is superfluous. The Haltech probably has its own control of the fuel pump to kill power to it in the case of a crash or something. Maybe email the Kpower guys.

Is that because the stock braces are removed, I wonder? Many four cylinders have chassis dampeners made of weights embedded in thick layers of rubber. Maybe we need to embrace the race-car.

Dunno, but may play a part? One other thing is that we are removing a balance assembly with the oil pump. Could play a part in that?

Another thing is maybe flywheel weight? I think that plays a bit in vibrations, maybe with a steel heavier flywheel it's less aggressive?

Last night I actually was missing a lot. Full rear seat with both side panels were out, and the whole center console. Just got to work with the car and did a little tuning on the way. I only installed the center Console and it was a bit quieter.

Couple things that may add to vibrations of my drivetrain. I’m running an unorthodox racing crank pulley, I don’t remember the exact weight but it wasn’t in pounds, it was in grams. Pretty sure it weighs less than half a pound. I have the aluminum flywheel with the exedy 3 puck clutch so it may be lighter than full face (basically the TRD Japan clutch). And the IRP shifter is known to vibrate a lot, it most likely got much worse with the shorter, harder shifter rod.

All in all I’m completely fine with all of these things. I wouldn’t have built the car the way I did if I wasn’t.

Well my flywheel bolts should be delivered today so I hopefully will find out this evening with my setup what vibration will be like.

Good luck! If you are by yourself it might be easier to remove the sway bar. Luckily my brother stopped by for a little bit when I was putting the engine in, I got under the car and had to play with the drivetrain a bit to get it to make its way over the sway bar.

Install the engine without the trans mount on.
I also had to remove the drive side engine mount in order to get the Impreza rubber mount in.

When it comes time to install the header bolt up the mid pipe to it first and see if your able to install it as a whole. Was a pain to get to the top bolt.

Good to hear that you got yours up & running. I am kinda worried about it being to loud. I goto NCM a few times a year & they have a strict sound limit. Currently running the invidea n1

From my experience the n1 was much louder than the n2. But you might be fine, I honestly havenít heard the car from outside so Maybe just the extra vibrations and potentially drone are making the car seem so loud to me. Iíve been daily driving my pretty much stock 98 civic with a B16b swap for the past 9 months so maybe with that car being so tame and quiet, it makes the 86 seem louder than it actually is.

When I came into work today my friend said the car was quiet and sounded good. Iíll have to let my brother drive the car this weekend so I can hear it from outside.

Also worth noting that if the rear seat and panels are out, it's going to sound considerably louder than with them installed. I did a rear seat delete for a minute and even with some dampening material it was obnoxiously louder than just stock seats. That's assuming you didn't put them back in before taking on a joy ride.
