In the same trim / drive type it only weighs more primarily because of the larger/wider wheels/tires.

His name isn't Biff, but many of his 'values' are stuck in the mid 1980's!

I’m starting to get excited about the reveal now. More so than I was about the Supra, TBH. So manual option confirmed, and the hints about the styling look promising. And did everyone notice, it retains a manual handbrake? Nice! Not something the Supra could manage. Hopefully this means they will keep it as analogue as possible - one of the great strengths of the ‘old’ 370Z is that it is an analogue sportscar in a world of increasingly artificial and detached feeling sportscars (numb electric steering, auto only, adaptive dampers etc).

Would you buy a manual wind window conversion kit if I were to start making them?

Not for my 86 presently, but if you would make a conversion kit for my trans am to replace the clapped out 30+ year old motors that you can only get equally terrible chicom replacements for I couldn't give you my money fast enough.

But these days I suspect many Porsche buyers buy them for the name, for the image, for the snob appeal and brag value of being able to say down at the local gym and bar (when it's possible to safely go back to them, pandemic willing) that they drive a "Por-shuh". For those people who value image over price and value, there is no substitute and they would never be happy with a mere pedestrian Nissan over a Porsche.
This is the danger with comparing cars on paper. I know you caveated that statement and I can see how just comparing the specs on paper might lead you to think the only reason to pick the Porsche is the badge, but having owned a 350z and 987.2 Boxster S, there’s no way I’d pick a 350/370z over a 987 or newer Porsche and it has nothing to do with the badge.

LOL, probably not, but I leave the windows up most of the time so it wouldn't both me either way. Manual window cranks do save weight though.

The things I like to stay old-school and analogue are the things that directly impact driving feel; steering, shifting, brakes, throttle, suspension etc.
