Hey, speak for yourself, MomHawk drives a red Mustang (albeit a V6 because she wanted the convertible more than the engine) and prefers we take my car on road trips. She's driven it on the return leg through Tail of the Dragon on a couple of occasions.

She won't drive our Suburban unless she absolutely has to because it's "boring and puts me to sleep so you get to drive".

Damn. Some of y'all mugs got it rough. My wife was hesitant to greenlight the FRS as we are having kids soon but I sold it on her. After driving around with me she loves going on adventures in it.

I even have the green light now to build a weekend road warrior NA Miata, on the condition I don't get back into motorcycle riding which I am totally fine with. I feel much safer on 4 wheels.

If I time everything right and the magic conch blesses me with good fortune I can have the miata ready before kids are too big for FRS and trade in for sporty Lexus, or STI if they ever make one that's not hideous again, preferably wagon.

Oh don't get me wrong 38 years ago she had no concerns about my muscle cars, she never once had a problem with my Talon TSi or any other performance cars. It is just THIS one. Oh and I didn't need her greenlight to buy it but did compromise in saying she doesn't have to ride in it.

As long as everyone is happy, keep motoring!

Maybe show her that video of that race twin in Australia flipping, and the driver is ok. Or maybe that will have the opposite effect. Haha

If a car flips in Australia is it now right side up for us?

Yes I think so. So really, it righted itself which is that much more impressive. These are very advanced machines, you see.

People focus on the young person marketing but these cars were marketed for two main demographics of which the young, techy or professional was only one component. The other target was the middle aged empty nester with the cash and option to be able to have a second fun car for play or commuting. There are far more of this category on the forum than many would believe.
I repeat that even here we did not see the average age start to drop until the used ones started dropping in price and they became more available to the younger crowd. This is totally normal in the car industry and has happened forever.
I always found it funny that the FRS was supposed to be the young guy market and the BRZ was aimed at the "higher end" older market but the sales numbers clearly show that the reverse is what actually happened.
People can NEVER go by the others they have met or seen as a "normal" situation. If that was the case then I would think that the bulk of the owners are old women since I see two of them for every young guy driving one around here.
It could be 10%, it could even be that 90% of those ranging in the 55+ area bought cars for their kids or made some sort of family arrangement so they could have the car. I really want to see where all these 55+ year olds are with their BRZ's/86's.

Subaru is vape nation, which helps explain the slightly younger buyers.

There are/have been at least 100 of them on here. You have seen the threads on the subject. Hell, looking back 3 of the 5 people on this current page are 55+
About 80% of the ones I see driving around are older (using your measuring system). They just aren't hanging out where you are so you don't believe they exist.
I strongly doubt that anything near 90% are people registering them for their kids.
Go back and look at some of the old threads and the average age of the people buying the 13s is well north of 40.
All in all it is not the "young" persons car that you would believe it to be. Not like Civics where the average age is around 12.

My measuring system is accurate don't knock it! I think what would make sense about older people buying is the level of how senile they become (exponential growth year to year after the age of however old @Tcoat is -30), so when going through the buying process, they don't realize they are buying a Toyota/Subaru instead of that Porsche they said they were looking for.

You can doubt my 90% figure, but it's pretty hard to even want to call that graph relevant/accurate today. You were probably right about those numbers back in 2013/14, but now? I wouldn't be so sure.

TBH Civics aren't even affordable for 12 year old's now because of insurance. It's those G35's people be buying now.

You sure it's not a Subaru De Testarossa? They are twins after all, I would double check just to be sure.

It's only a Testarossa if three cars are inline bumper-to-bumper (making sure my simple math is right... flat 4 x 3 = flat 12 Testarossa)... yes, we're good.
