I used to have a G37 Coupe (370z with rear seats)...but compared to a GR86/2022+ BRZ, ain't no way I'm picking the G/Z. It may be faster in a straight line, but I never woke up early on a Sunday morning to drive that car like I do with my BRZ

Also, a lot of time has passed. It's for sure going to be an 86 now. I got to drive one. I fell out of the whole wanting power and wanting to go fast in a straight line. It took ONE test drive and I'm set. He let me get it sideways, got to let me drive it around town, see how it handles, and god, for a car that's "slow" it felt like a rocketship. Was perfectly satisfied. It was a facelift BRZ. He also took me on a ride and showed me how easy it was to get the back out, and how much you can do before TC jumps in.

I do not want a z anymore.

I bought my first new car fifty years ago. It was the first Honda Civic. Before that, I had a string of cars that I could afford to buy, but did not consider the cost of ownership. You know, second and third hand Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Lotus, etc. Then I had a job that required a car that would start in the morning and get me to work on time so I can afford to keep the car. The 1974 Oil Embargo proved that I made a good choice. Consider the GR86 (or BRZ) with an automatic transmission if you are not taking the car to the track. The car is agile and if you exploit sport and/or track mode and/or manual shifting, you may be surprised. Another thing to think about is how you can fold down the rear seat and go shopping for a lot of stuff or go on a road trip. New vs. used? I have found that the best used car you can own is the one you bought new and keep even when it's paid off. I have friends who own airplanes. They all say that the least expensive part of having an airplane is buying it. I think that applies to cars and boats as well.

The VR actually sounds good, to me at least.

A bunch of cheapasses have ruined it by running unresonated, no muffler exhausts.

Yeah, a properly tuned VQ VHR with a properly resonated exhaust that just breathes a bit freer can sound pretty epic. Idiots straight piping their cars gives the VQ an unjustified bad rep.

As to the rest of the thread, my advice is always test drive your shortlist and go with the one that most appeals to you, and suits your needs best, not just the one forum posters say is best. They aren’t driving your car or making your car repayments for you, so if you choose poorly based on their subjective opinions, how will you feel?

Everyone has different wants, needs, tastes, and budget. That’s why there is a range of cars to choose from, because one car doesn’t satisfy everyone.
