Got mine done at Elk Grove Subaru. Car is currently clocking in at 4k miles after the valve spring and so far I'm satisfied with the work.

Irvine Toyota destroyed my car. 3K miles after the recall work Rod bearings went 6 hours from home and to add insult to injury they didn't tighter the pivot on the clutch fork so I lost the clutch in the middle of the 405 freeway during rush hour in LA. 12K for a new motor. Plus my new oil cooler also had to be replaced.

Got mine done at Fremont Toyota. Took them over 2 weeks and I got a call the the car won't start after the work.

I went to check on the car today and re-flashed the same E85 tune that was loaded since the tech thought it was an issue due to the aftermarket tune. After reflash the issue was still there so that throws his theory out the window.

Symptoms: When trying to crank the car to start it is very rough. the whole car shakes/rattles. after 1-2 seconds the engine just dies. I checked with my OFT there is no error codes. Dealer techs have no idea what is causing the issue.

the car has only 25k miles and ran perfectly before the recall.

Sorry to hear that. Are they covering the cost for the new engine?

Can’t even get em to return emails and calls. I know that the dealers won’t reimburse so I’m not pursuing it. I’d rather concentrate on driving rather than prolonging the mental agony of dealing with what I’ve been through. The car is incredible now so I’m not looking back.

Sorry to hear that man, I was one of the first 10 cars to had it done at Irvine (Autonation) Toyota. I'm about 25-30k miles deep since the recall and its been nothing but smooth, car runs quieter than prior to recall. I hope you get it sorted out man, can't imagine the headache its been.

It comes down to the tech working on your car. I sat the service manager down and gave him the "Do you know about all the problems with dealers not knowing protocol with the sealant and the blown engines because of it" speech and of course the answer was something like "Oh yeah! we know all about it and never had a problem".

Had the motor replaced by a place in San Marcos, HG Performance. AWESOME shop and their tech, Dylan, is a guru of the FA20. Car is now amazing.

Called the dealership today.
They said they found the issue it was something about high pressure pump not being connected properly and that they corrected it and the car is running properly now.
I am going to pick up the car later today.

I asked them about warranty on the engine in case something goes wrong after the recall it will be covered. he said on the phone that if any issues arise within 12 months I can bring it back. but they will not give any document in writing for the warranty.

Now I am debating whether to sell it and get something else as daily driver. Will the wrongly connected fuel pump during the service and numerous rough starts have damage/have negative effects on the engine in the long term? when I was at the dealership trying to start the car with the fuel pump issue it was rattling quite violently so I'm concerned about the long term heath of the engine.
