I ordered the standard too and when I got it and looked at it, I thought it was dead wrong but it's not. It fits and works.

Also just realized you cant use the smartcord with this? Do you just mute from the radar detector?

My Escort Max Directwire Install

Great guide, I used this with post from others to hardwire my Passport MAX radar detector

Just some clarification for those FR-S users that don't have the auto dimming mirror or even if you do, you can make the connections on the male (car side) and not the mirror side.

I bought my direct wire cable from ebay for $8.95 with inline fuse
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Escort-Radar...item2c7252d817

find the mirror connection cable to right once you remove the light housing
mine was taped down (I guess to prevent noise)

turn the now loose mirror cable so that the gray wire is on the left...

feed the red wire into the left slot where the gray wire is... feed the black wire from the direct wire cable into the middle slot of the mirror power where the black wire is.

When you feed the wires in depending on how you do this they should be snug so it may take a few attempts.

I secured it using a rubber band, you might want to use a small tie wrap or electrical tape. That way when you tug on the cord when moving your radar connector these connections won't come loose.

Is that cable long enough? I see you put on your radar toward on the passenger side? is it hard to see while you driving?

I wanted it in a place that wouldn't obstruct the windshield visibility, I initially wanted to put it below the mirror with a special mount. But decided this is better as it is not as visible from outside the car, kind of looks like part of the mirror mount from a distance. The escort max is a big radar detector and positioning is difficult.

I have no problem seeing it, and actually it being next to the rearview mirror is not as distracting as you would think, since you are checking your mirror often anyway.

Tapping the mirror is 12v with a 10A fuse, right? Is it true that this setup cannot power the valentine one concealed display? If that is true, could you just bump up to a 15A fuse?

For those who want to use the power source in the glove. I took this route.. radar>>8ft phone cable >> 4pin phone jack coupler >> radar power cord >> cigarette lighter in glove box. Spent forever before this option looking for a cigarette lighter w/ a phone jack adapter.

Ran my V1 power cord on the drivers side, needed power from the ODB2 port.
Using the V1's Bluetooth and SAVVY adapter.
Running YaV1 app, and have GPS lockouts, custom sweeps ext.
This setup removes almost all false and bogus treats and makes the V1 a whole lot less "Chatty"

What is that mount? Is it specific to the escort or something aftermarket?

The mount holding the escort max is Escorts newest suction cup mount. I believe it only comes with the Max, currently.
