Hold The Cell Phone Modified Mag!
So yeah, just picked up the latest issue of Modified Mag and it looks like they have picked up on the less than reliable news that autocar or autoblog or whatever other unreliable blog has posted about the delayed production date of our beloved FT-86. This stuff is driving me up the wall.
In a nutshell, the article states that "the FT-86 has been put on the backburner until 2013", wtf wasn't this rumour discredited already? They also went on to say "The excuses are many...possible hybrid driveline... Apparently, the big heads at Toyota want to gauge the success of [the] Honda CR-Z before pulling the trigger". Gahd, I pretty sure these guys are just reading old news and speculations. I'm in the process of writing a reader’s feedback letter to them about this balderdash. What I don't understand is why this is taking so long and is so negatively hyped. This car has sooo much of a fan base already, but cars like the Scion TC and the CR-Z get released even though they have wayyy less appeal and positive consumer feedback than the FT-86 (Subaru whatchamacallit). I'm just going to stick to what Toyota says. Although I am pissed that Toyota doesn't have the FT-86 in the upcoming vehicles section of their website. I think there is more conspiracy going on in this forum that on prisonplanet.com...

We are just following official news from Toyota. We don't give in to Joe Shmoe's articles trying to make his magazine sell with bullshit rumours on a car they have never seen before.
If Toyota comes out and says "it WILL Launch in 2011" Then fuck anything those autoblog, carblog guys say. It is only true if we hear it straight from Toyota. They better have a press release soon though, the waiting is killing me. |

I totally agree, I will only believe what I hear from interviews with Toyota or straight from Toyota. I just wish people would stop plaguing us FT-86 devotee's with crap. Anyways, the letter is off, I gave them shit for us.

Pretty sure toyota told someone that development is on-schedule for a november 2011 release and it will NOT be a hybrid.
Also, it will look just about how the original concept did, with minor changes for production. |

Just about every tuner mag has said the same thing in their latest issue.
The new modified does have some sick photography in it though covering the Australia SLB and BMW meet. Also there are 2 different SW20s in that issue, its rare even seeing one. |

Yeah, those M3's are sicckkkk! But it is true, the mag may be spreading rumours, but they have some decent automotive porn in there.

Just got through skimming Road & Track and they are saying the same thing that it has been moved back to 2013 due to "design and styling issues". Again I'm not gonna pay too much attention until Toyota comes out and says something...
