Lets talk exclusivity

After much debate between the BRZ and FRS I find myself drawn to the Subaru more and more (partly because of trim and partly because I have a weird preference to drive the badge that had the most to do with the car/engine). Now realistically on an average day where do you think these two cars will end up on the "spotting" scale?

Level One would be: Genesis coupe/Veloster/GTI/Mustang?

Level Two (slightly more rare): S2k/MX5/RX8/Nissan Z car?

Or Three (much less likely): Elise/Supra/mr2 etc...

I only bring it up because for some reason I can't really tell, on the one hand yes the cars SHOULD be affordable and with the available auto it will be very accessible. However, on the other hand it's relatively underpowered for its class(not that we care) and (in Canada at least) the BRZ will be WELL into the 30's once you're out the door which puts it with some very well healed company new AND used.

I don't know I just kind think it would be nice if the car stays relatively "rare" on the roads as opposed to a mass of them at every stop light call me vain haha

I actually see more Z's, than Gen Coupes.

In order of different cars I see are, from most to least:

Mustang's
Z's
GC's
MX5's
GTI's
RX8's
S2K's
Veloster's
MR2's
Supra's
Elise's

that scale makes no sense as i see way more Z's than genesis or veloster in my area. because of its price i dont think it will be as rare as the s2000 range. it also comes in an automatic which makes it available for most folks.

I mean, do you really think toyota/subaru will dump a lot of money just to please the niche crowd? i`m sure we`ll see people that have no idea what a rear wheel driven car feels like but will purchase the fr-s based on other factors.

If this car becomes any kind of exclusive - it probably means it failed.

Keep in mind in Canada for many years the market prices on cars were totally off the wall so that scale is quite accurate, I personally sold a fifty eight thousand dollar 350Z the same year it won the "best performance car under 30k" in a road and track magazine article.

I'm not suggesting Toyota and Subaru would or should increase the price of the car to make it a niche vehicle, i'm just curious if we'll see many or few on the road.

Living in Southern Cali I see most of those cars daily. The Lotus and Supra perhaps once a month. I think in my area this car will be somewhere between level one and two.

It's about the same here in VA. The RX-8 is actually really common here. There aren't many GCs at all. I see more Supras than that. Usually a Lotus every few weeks. my boyfriend drives an elise so I'm used to seeing his car around all of the time. I don't see many Velosters around either through.

hmm... level 0 or 1, they are going to sell as many of these cars as they make. they will likely be more common than a TC or a WRX.

I see more Z than GC. At least there are 4 370Z at school, and not even one GC.

If the price is right I think you might see a lot of the BRZ/FRS.

As many as the Genesis for sure. (which I see a lot of in my area).

Again depending on pricing it might be as prevalent as, dare I say, the Civic SI...

Yeah I see far more RX8, S2K, MX5 and Zs than all of those level one cars except the Mustang around here.

I think once this thing makes it through a few production years you will be seeing them as often as WRXs, that means fairly often around me in CT.

Are we talking exclusivity and Mustang in the same sentence?

This does not compute.
