Unable to hold idle.

Has anyone else had this? Engine is 100% stock.

mine only seems to do it when its hot out and Im running the a/c. Definitely something you should have a dealership look at for warranty work. Ive been too lazy to take mine in though.

I've been fortunate to only have an idle dip issue when there was a small leak in my pcv system after installing a catch can (ID10T error ).

The video seems to show the symptoms described as part of the infamous P0019 cel issue, just without the actual cel so far.

Assuming this is your BRZ, you've had it for a while, has it ever had the ecu reflash?

mine will do it but not that frequent; maybe once while i'm stopped. I do always have the auto climate control on though so that could be contributing to it

This was happening somewhat permanently, and is much more extreme than the idle dip that was happening previously.

You can actually hear a misfire most of the times when the RPMs dip, and the jump up is fairly large.

The previous idle issue happened once every ~15-20 seconds, and it was fairly quick. This is consistent, and constantly fluctuates, almost like a cammed civic, but with a slower oscillation.

The CEL is coming, its just a matter of time. Do you have a scan tool/datalogger to see what is going on with the car when the idle jumps/drops and the knock occurs?

What are you guys doing to those motors at CSG (this could be number three, right?) pissing in the gas tank?

The only thing it's missing is the idle shaking/shuddering...couldn't tell from the video.

When it CELs, take it to the dealer and leave it there until they're done with it.

I have this from day one, at some level of engine load at idle (typically the A/C, or heater, or headlights). I'm at 1yr/16k miles. I'm not sure there's a misfire. If there were, it'd throw a code.

You've never had a CEL? That's nuts. Perhaps a little bit of misfire is within the engine's paramters?

Then again, I don't completely understand the nuances of newfangled direct injection fueling, timing, and spark tables, or the variable everything that seems to be on motors these days. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of working on my dad's 66 Mustang.

It just seems like the car is missing. That's why I would love to see some logs at various loads and at idle...

Nope. I think the CEL comes on when revs dip to like 400, mine stay above 500.

what is the build date on your car.. Mine is a feb 2013 build date on the door.. and I dont have that issue.. I think u need to get the latest ECU update. You might also have that issue with the injector seals being damaged. I read somebody else had a similar misfire and that was the issue.. You need to take it in.. unfortunately..

TPMS light is on. If this is not real then it is one of the indicators of an ECU problem.
