Finally fixed and replaced the dampener and lo and behold, no more rattling!! The green part was destroyed to bits. That damn bolt though, I had to just wiggle the EPS unit and boom, the bolt came out easily. Of course I had already fought with the bolt for an hour wiggling the steering wheel (instead of the EPS unit itself) and playing with the brake pedal assembly. Finally realized what if I stick my hand up there and grab the unit itself and bam, it rotated and the bolt popped out. FML. Rattling gone!! Another tip, wear work gloves. There are some sharp edges down there that I got sliced on.

This thing was thrashed. Was fortunate, mechanic helped me out with this. Did it without removing the gauge cluster.

Hi all, I did this today, and the rattling is gone but my steering wheel is misaligned a few degrees to the left. Can I remove the 14mm nuts, pull the steering wheel out, and recenter it again? I saw another video where a mechanic uses a computer to reprogram it to center, ugh.

How many hours of labour is involved if getting it done through a Toyota Dealership? The repairs looks a bit complex to be honest.

Are you able to give more details as to how he did it? How many hours were involved? Removing trims etc, seem very complex.

Just reach down and feel the drive assembly from underneath while you jiggle the steering wheel. Will be obvious.
