Just wanted to see what people have come up with as solutions to this problem.. I really dont wanna have to drill the bumper and am not a fan of the Perrin/Grimmspeed mounts.

Aznek, would you have a photo of what you mentioned? It would be really helpful?

Thanks,

When i did the PDI on my own FR-S, i drilled it into the black grille area. Going to put zip ties on the bottom part of the holder just in case it lets go.

i told my dealer i dont want the front bracket on the car and i will mount the license plate myself.. he told me he has to do it, then said they dont drill anything.. i believed him and thought that the front bracket is just a clip on..

little did i know they drill the plastic part of the grill to mount that POS onto it.. im going to go see if they're going to replace it, since i specifially told them not to and they told me they dont drill

Did you get this sorted?

I forgot to ask not to drill and they did the same as you for mounting, I just want to know now if that black plastic honeycomb can be easily and relatively cheaply replaced?

Totally agree. Clowns. They were trying to charge all the extra fee's twice. Dad found out the scam, they bullshitted it saying it had to have been charged, we left and went to DVN and paid price as advertised. No hastles.

Ya totally they tried to do the same, they are only up for the quick sales honestly, Kevin the Manager there is such a scam. Please put up a negative post here to warn everyone:

I'm also going to write a letter to Toyota Canada to complain.

When I ordered mine I asked to have it not drilled, they said they wouldn't drill it but if it came with holes the only thing I could do is reject the car and wait for another car with the same options. Luckily it came without holes so there was no issue.

I have mine mounted on the stock bracket, but lower just using long nuts/bolts/washers to hold the bracket to the lower part of the mesh.

Just an FYI, the instructions for installation only have holes drilled into the solid area in the "mesh" part. If you look at a bare bumper you can see the dimples where the holes are supposed to be. No painted part actually has holes in it. I still didn't want holes so I went with another option.

Here's how mine looks:
