Post DIY – Sequential MY'17 Tail turn light Mod

Ongoing project

I bought this sequencer module with two channels management from Galak Electronics (US).
My thought is to open the back of my tail lights, bypass the stock switch power, once opened the back need to unplug/disconnect the wiring of leds and to connect each of them to each proper board output (CH1 for left tail and CH2 for right tail).
I think to close, after re-wiring, with an ABS plate fixed with little screws.
Any suggestions? here VG-208 Manual and Specs https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Pe...8uaqwPQzdBrUmu

Sweet idea. I love my 17 tails but I always get jealous seeing those sequential valentis on other twins. I think the most difficult thing to do is getting the tail lights open. If I remember correctly it's fairly difficult and there's a good chance you'll mess them up if you're not careful. Here's a tutorial on the pre-facelift tails:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12489

I think that the 17 tails are probably a similar process but I couldn't find any detailed instructions on opening them. Probably because most people are happy enough with them to leave them alone. I'm super interested to see how this turns out. I might give it a try if you come out with good results.

I think rewiring the LEDs will be difficult without a steady hand as well. Alternatively there's this if you haven't seen it:

FWIW, I don't know if knowing this would be helpful, but if you turn your car alarm on the hazard/turn signals are actually sequential or mostly sequential. Might be useful to see how it works that way from factory.

I did not know that. I'm about to go turn my alarm on at work and get some looks How it sends the signal for the sequential alarm is the question then. There's only brake, running, and turn signal on the 4-pin connector that goes to the tail light. There's got to be a complicated circuit inside the light for it to have a separate signal from just those somehow. I don't want to leave my alarm on while I'm probing the pins, I don't think my neighbors would like that, but I am curious.

I know practically nothing about this kind of stuff, but if you wanted to play with things I bet you could disconnect some wire for the horns, and then the alarm wouldn't blare. Just a thought .

That's some awesome information, I had no idea that alarm was sequential. I "think" I'm pretty good with electronics, and I've retrofitted a few headlights; guess I know what I'm playing around with this weekend :P

Well, I don't know if it's fully sequential. I just remember one time I set it off to try it and as far as I could tell it looked like the headlight turn signals were sequential.

But I hope so!

I hope so too! If it is then it might be as simple as a different voltage to turn signal to indicate signal vs alarm going off.

Hey guys just fyi, my tails aren't sequential when I trigger the alarm. 2017 BRZ Limited. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be different for an 86 or premium trim. Maybe for 2018?

Maybe it's just the headlights?
