OEM FR-S/BRZ/86 Suspension Part Numbers
Just thought I'd post some of the OEM part numbers in one thread. Some Toyota/Scion parts will have a Subaru part number too. It'll help someone ID used OEM suspension.

This might be a silly question, but is it possible to use the PP Sachs dampers in the pre MY2017 cars? Or has anyone upgraded their suspension to the PP suspension on their pre 2017 cars? sorry if this has been covered before im just curious

Probably the best bang for buck upgrade to an early car at this point is a set of low mileage '17+ coilovers for a few hundred bucks given the reviews the new cars get. |

strat61caster: but how well they will work with older spring rates, or everything including springs and rollbars (IIRC also changed vs older?) should come over?

In any case I believe it would be close enough to not be "bad" (or anywhere close to bad) but maybe not as good as possible. I'd say most agree, as far as I can tell almost nobody aftermarket is changing part numbers for dampers (i.e. Koni and Bilstein) or lowering springs (i.e. RCE, Eibach, H&R) as they all say they can be used with whatever chosen spring or damper. @Vital part of the reason why I suggested it was the new spring rates play a factor in the good reviews the '17+ cars are getting, if you're not going to change springs I would think an aftermarket damper would be more satisfying, but if you can get a good price then I think the '17+ OE is a viable replacement. |

Yeah, using old springs with new dampers is sometimes an issue. I have a 2017MY Toyota 86. I ordered a set of Eibach Sportlines and was about to install them until I found out from Eibach themselves said they don't ride great with the 2017 86 struts/shocks (but their Pro-Kit is fine). I ended up getting some used 2015-16 struts/shocks cheap to use on the springs.
I'd also imagine the Sachs setup would feel fine if you used the 2017 BRZ springs and swaybars. |

OK, I finally managed that there is even another part number for Sachs shocks and springs for JDM BRZ STi Sport. Do you know if this specific model is lowered or not?

BTW, for completeness sake shouldn't also list be updated with swaybar partnumbers in zenki & kouki, as they imho are designed to work with as system with updated spring & damping rates of new shocks/springs? And whatever else might be updated in suspension .. weren't there some bolts too? Or that was in MY2015? Memory is vague ..
