Idle issue poll/role call

As suggested in the other thread, this it's a poll to get an idea of how large the idle issue is.

Please post how many miles on your vehicle as well as transmission and how many times you've encountered the idle "stutter". Any additional information you can provide might help us track down issues.

1100 miles, mt, 4

it's happened at least twice after a cold start over night.

it has also happened 2 times today in stop and go traffic once in neutral, and once in 1st gear.

it will idle low, almost stall, then rev up followed by a miss fire type noise.
@Sigh-on-Rice ambient temp is 75-90.

@JiB no stall yet for me, but it's come close twice.

@eriktherod it is a rumbly idol, but it's the missfire, a small pop unlike the di noise.
@blu_ agreed. The normal idle is low and has a weird un-rhythmic shake to it that can freak people out. I'm fine with that. It's the pops that make me take notice.

190 miles. MT.
When I hear the DI sound at idle, the RPM drops to 600, but it's nothing like described on another thread. Can it be something to do with the temperature too? It's in 70s and 80s here.

I noticed this today (maybe I've been reading too much) but it didn't bother me. I'd see the rpms at 600-700 and then jump up to 1000+ and then fall back down. It would do this every few seconds.

It seems that a lot of the recent things that people have been 'concerned' about are typically a result of direct injection. Little noises, quirks, and otherwise harmless things that make many people raise eyebrows are just new things that they are unfamiliar with (myself included) due to this being one of their first DI cars.

While not direct injected, my previous 08 Si would do this sometimes after I had tuned the ECU, so I assume it's just some way to work out fuel trims.

Definitely no stalls and I don't feel like it affects my launch technique. I've given up worrying about every little thing in the car and trust Toyota+Subaru. I have the warranty, if something happens that just feels completely wrong, I'll take it in. As for noises and whatnot, I'll just mention them to the tech during service and see what they say.

I think we need to make sure people understand the issue some owners have with the car throwing CEL's and stalling as opposed to the normal Subaru boxer "hiccups" that seem to be on all of them, inlcuding my old STI and most STI's I've ever been in.

AND then there is the squeaking noise, which i think is the DI high pressure pump or something, but normal.

I am still unsure how many people are experiencing serious issues, or are just paranoid and hearing/feeling the "normal" boxer ghetto fab experience. And my concern is that while several people may be experiencing serious issues, a vast majority of respondents will click that they are because of smaller complaints about the motor.

When you are talking about a "stutter" do you mean violent shaking or a couple bumps every once in a while?

2200 miles, this last weekend I was sitting at a drive through, and instead of the typical pre warm up stutter it was actually going from 500 to 750 rpms, bouncing back and forth like I was tapping the gas....or it couldn't make up its mind which idle it wanted.
