I would have liked to see a twin scroll kit packaged like the avo kit. Near instant torque, with just enough to flow to last till 7k, 250-280 whp target. Would be spendy though, most people would want more power for the money or lower cost for the power.

I haven't even finished my first turbo setup and I'm already planning the next twin scroll manifold. The added complexity is just a challenge and that's what makes it fun.

A custom VGT would be more of a challenge...

No one, that's for sure! But a power band that starts at 2200RPM and pulls like a train till 8500RPM is one mean car on the race track.

I know it may sound odd, but that is actually why I want a twin-scroll recirculating turbo. I always had supercharged engines and loved the instant response. I hated turbocharged civics and the turbo lag. My mind was changed for me when I test drove a Saturn Sky Redline with the GMPP reflash. 300bhp, 2.0L 4cyl with no noticeable turbo lag.


Also, I don't make enough to be innovative.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but: single scroll is the most laggy, twin scroll is less laggy, but a VGT system has no lag at all. Albeit costing 2/3 more than a quality twin scroll setup, but hey, you gotta bite the bullet somewhere.

Is there not an additional benefit of twin scroll when using cams with more overlap? With the segregation of the exhaust manifold wouldn't you better protect yourself from the negative effects. Longer duration = Higher RPM's, yes?

I think every bit of spool and responsiveness is better, but there are probably diminishing returns from a money perspective. I saw people go twin-scroll on other Subaru engines and the differences weren't really that great versus the cost and complexity. You could simply use a slightly smaller turbo or more advanced single-scroll turbo like a GTX or EFR.

Also on a street driven car with limited traction I'm not sure how much you want a huge torque hit, then when you add stickier tires to the equation, then other stuff starts breaking.
