Haven't put it on yet but just wanted to show what the STi tS fender garnish looks like in comparison to the TRD shark fin:

Ug... I want those fender garnishes bad, I cant stand the chrome bits.

So the only difference is there is a screw on the STI version? Trying to decide if I should just put black ones on my car or swap them to the GBS bits.

I would line someone up to purchase their preferred color of fender garnish at a price reasonable to getting a new set paint-matched so that you're spending less on the entire kit for that STI peace.

So post up, "Anyone want any of the four colors available for the STI fender garnish at a discounted price so I can just keep the STI overlay?" I'm sure some FR-S person will bite. You'd have to pay the whole thing up front, then sell the color garnishes later.

what about the screw hole? doesn't look like the chrome bit would cover up the hole from the STi bit.

The screw actually illustrates the fact that the STi cover is much larger than the factory piece. The back of the two are identical otherwise, which means the STi cover can't be "glued" into the fender garnish groove as easily as the chrome piece can.

As a result, I think this is the reason why Subaru won't sell just the STi cover part. It's fairly tricky to install without prior experience, and you can easily mess up without having the whole cover on a jig.

Edit: just realized the drill hole/circle is molded into the trim. HMMM... guess us early adopters are figuring this out as we go.

Drilling this kind of plastic is easy as pie, ive done it a million times.

I do like the idea of selling the fender bits to an frs owner though, that might work.
