The biggest problem is obtaining the source material for the animation. I spent hours screen-grabbing images off Toyota-UK's 360 degree GT86 viewer, cleaning it all up etc, and then putting it all back together - it's not an endeavour to undertake lightly!
Unfortunately there are subtle differences between the GT86 & BRZ (the BRZ not being available in orange, for one), which means that if you want to do it properly, you'd have to find similar imagery for the BRZ. |

...however.
I'm not without a heart. Although the idea of everyone asking for a custom version is not practical, here's what I have done:
These animations are generic Andoid 'bootanimation.zip' files. To install:
If that last bullet point doesn't make sense to you, then I would suggest downloading a Boot Animation manager from the Play store (I believe that 'Boot Animation * root' will do the job - if someone finds that it does/doesn't work, please report it to the thread so we can look for alternatives). BONUS TIP: As the animations are standard Android fare, you can also install them on your cellphone/tablet etc! |

And finally, as mentioned, an updated set of boot logos with corrected black (background) colours, as well as my set for the 86.
Contents:
These logos can be seen at the end of the video attached a couple posts ago. Enjoy. |

My unit (T7019) came with Sygic, which does exactly that - maps preinstalled & no network connection required to operate (although I believe there is a manual option to update the maps using a network connection).
Google Maps does require a network connection. I'm not sure about the other options (TomTom, Copilot etc) |

TomTom and Sygic can operate without network connection, no need to be on.
You can see possible updates on GooglePlay when join network (wifi and 3G). Be careful, updates of Sygic are very large.....

question for any of you who have tried both a resistive and capacitive version of these units:
is there any reduction in the amount of screen wash out between the two? I have a resistive unit, and while i couldnt care less if i can do multi touch or anything like that, i feel like the screen washes out pretty heavily if theres any sunlight at all. My windows are pretty tinted and it doesnt help enough. was thinking getting a capacitive screen unit might help out. any input? |

TIP: Set up a push of the right hand knob as 'Brightness'. (Allows you to easily toggle between bright/dim/screen off) - great for driving at night.

@GreenPants, @Trap63 and @Ghostmerlott - Here's a wee teaser of @Tech changing the LEDs from green to orange.
You can see 3 of the LEDs in this pic. One next to each button. Tiny white things. 2mm x 1mm. He says there's 16 in total. He hasn't replaced them yet but starting now! Thought you might like to see.
