Scion FR-S Airbag "86" Emblem Mockup/Replacement

I'm sure many of us would love to see a way to replace the Scion airbag emblem - especially if we're rocking the Toyota badges on the outside!

@Ongor produced a cool looking graphic of a possible exterior emblem, I thought it would look interesting on the inside, so I threw it into Photoshop to see what it would look like on our Scion interior. Three "colors" - Steel, Gunmetal, Black.

I thought it would be a cool project to undertake if we could rally a few people together to take some measurements and get a 3D model designed and printed! I think it'd look far better than having a shiny Toyota badge popping out like these eyes

Was mainly inspired by the great work by these guys: @boredom.is.me and @kALMIGHTY

Oh right, I imagine we'd need the emblem to have a solid back of some sort, to cover the unevenness upon Scion badge removal?

You could pop off the Scion logo and design your 86 badge in such a way that the back has the imprint of the Scion logo left behind by removing the badge, so this 86 badge would sort of "snap on" right on top of the plastic design left behind, and act more like a cover. The other way would be as you said, shaving all the plastic left behind, then sanding it smooth, then designing a solid badge with a black or whatever colour backing that fits the oval perfectly.

That's a good point, haven't thought of that. Now if only I had the skills to do so - would you like to make another set of badges

Subscribed, I mentioned doing this with that design in that emblem thread. I think it would look great in the steering wheel. I would love an 86 bag but no way could I justify $800+ for it

I wouldn't mind designing or trying to make a 3D model but I'm waiting for my big computer to ship so I can finally do things my Macbook can't do.

I'd still prefer the 86 logo I made to match my front and rear, but that's just my OCD talking.

I pried off the Scion emblem then shaved the backing awhile back.

Very cool, how did you do the shave? I'm going to guess dremel, but I have very little experience using them.

Well, in any case I'd love to see some work done for our airbags and I'm sure you're the man to do it.

Do you happen to have that Scion badge from the steering wheel stored somewhere? I'd love to get some measurements of it. Like width, height, depth, etc.

I'll try to work on a 3D model sometime soon once my big computer arrives, and when I get some time. Getting really busy with university.
