great post! I love to take mine on long road trips...but the most I ever did was 15 hrs in a single day (upstate NY to Myrtle beach). I agree, seats are great, and never felt fatigue driving the BRZ.
How did she handle in the snow? I assume you had snow tires? Which ones?? |

You got to be kidding me. I was on a 10 day road trip, chicago-denver-slc-denver-chicago; 22nd Dec - 2nd Jan. Dang it, we should have planned it and did it like a group long ride. I had previous experience in driving snow (2 winters with brz on snow tires), so I had no issues driving and I had chains too.

I had the same sluggish feeling on I70 (denver-utah). I was in the 5th gear and 4500-5000 rpm many times.

Would it be a bad thing to run the engine at a constant high (5000-ish)rpm fo r a long period of time? I know that would be bad for break in but after 20K miles?

Great story!
Got mine in part to tour the country's back roads. Longest trip so far has been a 10-day loop through the South a couple of summers ago. In alphabetical order, visited Alabama, Arkansas, DC, Georgia, Illinois (southern corner at Cairo), Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, as well as Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Drove over 3k miles, half of them on small roads (including the Tail of the Dragon). Fun car, fun times! PS: I like the engine growl on short trips, but was glad I'd brought along a plug to block the sound tube (resonator) for such a long trip: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30659

Great story. That blue looks nice against the white snowy background.
You're braver than I am. Years ago ... I drove from Arizona to Alaska during the winter time in a RWD Celica. Never again. Lucky to be here after that trip. |
