Recommended Car Ramps for the BRZ/FRS?
What do you guys recommend for a car ramp for the BRZ? I plan on using it to do oil changes.
Also do I even need one to change the oil? |

I hope to hear a good answer for this. I'm thinking DIY ramps may be the way to go for us. I couldn't get my car up my friends ramps the other day yet they work fine for his even lower 5 series. Real shame that the BRZ front sticks out so much.

Get a fumoto valve. Ramps are always tough on cars with a low ride.

Any good ramps plus 2x4s should work. I haven't tested the ramps I have but I basically never use them anyways.

I've got a set of Rhino Ramps I bought a few years ago for my MINI. I had the BRZ up on 'em last week. It's snug; they appear to *almost* touch the front lip. They certainly won't work if you lower the car. If I find that the car sits a little lower once the suspension's broken in a bit, I'll just throw a 2x4 on the ground in front of the ramp.

I've got Rhino Ramps and some boards. But I've been thinking of picking up some Race Ramps.

I've been using a set of the long, 2 piece Race Ramps along with a pair of the small, I think 4-inch ramp bumps (for lack of not remembering what they're really called). My Camaro is lowered probably 1.5 inches. The Race Ramps are awesome. A shorter set of ramps would just get pushed forward by the front underbody spoiler or cause that same piece to drag if backing up the ramps. If you plan on lowering the car at all, I highly suggest the long version of the ramps. I believe their website describes how to check if your car is too low for the standard length ramps.
For oil changes on my FR-S, I just plan on using an oil extractor. For decades, thousands, maybe millions of diesel boat guys have used and continue to use oil extractors. They work and they work well.

I have the Takata LDS (low down slope) ramps. They've worked great for various lowered cars I've had. They clear the facia great and they raise the car enough to get a jack under. They discontinued them but there are copies or rebranded versions out there. I remember a friend of mine bought some that looked exactly like mine with a different name (Tomioka or Low-mioka) from EDO Performance, I'm sure you could google the info and find them. They look like this:

Try these out. Use them with my lowered cars to good success.

The Race Ramp brand ramps are really nice but way too expensive. It's nice they give 10" of lift.
The Tamioka ones are nice but generally used to be able to get a jack under the car, they only have a couple inches of lift. Those ones at griotsgarage look pretty good for doing something like a quick oil change, 7" of lift and nice and compact. |
