Does anyone know if this is for the 2.5" or the 3" CBE? Buying today and haven't decided between the two.

Lokenzi, the tips are welded on, so you'd have to cut them off if you wanted to replace them. A muffler shop should be able to do that for you.

Just an FYI about my install experience. I've always wanted to work on the cat but haven't done anything major in favor of not taking risks with warranty and stuff like that. (I know it doesn't make a difference now, but it was my mindset at the time.) Nonetheless I received my perrin CB yesterday and installed this morning.

This was my first major project on the car and I can say it was easily manageable. The hardest parts were taking off the hangers and the final adjustments. Aside from that it was easy.

As an overall experience, it was fantastic, I loved being able to do the work on my own as it adds to the overall pleasure of having the part in general for me. My car is at about 90K km and although the hangers were a bit stubborn, I managed to get them off on a day where the air temp was close to -15 C.

I used 4 Jack stands and followed a bunch of DIY procedures on this site and had no issue at all getting it done. So basically to those of you on the fence about doing the install, if you have the right hardware, you can do it.

Also incase you haven't heard this before, the system sounds awesome, should go great with my OFH

Glad I decided to read through this thread; now I know how to fix the niggling "one tip sticks out farther than the other" issue. :P

Also, based on what I've heard and read, it should be fine--but I'm planning to move to California in a few months, and I want to make sure I won't be going over the exhaust noise level restriction, so I ordered an SPL meter to test it with. It should be here in a day or two. When it gets here, I'll do the test, and post the results.

Tested it today. I was eyeballing the distance and angles based on what I remembered from reading the SAE J1169/J1492 testing specifications, but I think I got it close. I also only ran the test once on the left-hand exhaust outlet, when an actual noise level inspection test would run it at least twice on each outlet, average the results from each outlet, then take the value for whichever side is louder.

The meter recorded 103 dB. :/

Now, there are a couple of factors that may help me out on an actual test. First, again, I was eyeballing it. I may have had the meter too close, or less than 45° off the axis of the exhaust outlet. Second, in addition to this exhaust, I've also got the Perrin 2.5" Cold-Air Intake and the Perrin inlet tube; noise-wise, these mainly affect the sound up front, but getting more, cooler air into the engine can affect the exhaust noise a little. I'd have to swap back to the stock intake to get it registered in California anyway (or switch to another intake I found that has a CARB E.O. approval sticker...but I've already got the stock one, no sense shelling out more money yet) which would hopefully drop the noise a bit. Would it make 8 dB of difference? Dunno, but it might.

I must say, that article backed up all the talk about Perrin being one of the best (exhaust) performance options for the brz.

I initially wanted to install the Borla UEL header, then I heard bad things from the product and that you also have to do some tuning. So, I wanted to settle for the Berk muffler delete, which is extremely simple.

However, knowing that the Berk won't give much gains, now all I got on my mind is Perrin, after all the good things I've read up on.
