What Nardi said! Do you happen to have any other exhaust components installed other than the PERRIN catback? Having both V band clamps loose and adjusting the S pipe should be able to do it.

As I go thru the process of testing the pre-release tunes Perrin's given me, I dont think the gains are as impressive down low without the overpipe, its definitely a restriction point in the OE pipe system, and can say that if youre coughing out for the tune, the over pipe is a no brainer for anyone who wants to maximize the tunes day to day driveability in addition to the extra 3-4hp. it all adds up, this is a cumulative add part. It adds power across the entire spectrum. I'd say on point with 100 bucks per horsie
^^ I agree.

Great install and review @Sony.

I too, had the small resonator SRT cat back and it was too loud for my wife. After putting on the overpipe and HFC first pipe the drone improved in that torque dip area but, SRT became even louder at WOT. Night and day difference after installing the Perrin resonated cat back. Still have the low restriction/added power, nice low tone, no drone issues whatsoever and now wife approved!!! I do miss some of the SRT's rashness but, the stealthiness of the Perrin makes up for it especially in the >4000 RPM range. Not obnoxious but, it lets you know it is there with a very nicely tuned low note exhaust response loud enough to make you really appreciate it over the stock exhaust. No pops, burps, rasp or other noises as with other systems. Very, very pleased with the quality of the Perrin exhaust system.

Just purchased a non res catback from perrin. Got a sweet deal too (715 bucks shipped). Hoping it gets shipped fast. I was really having a tough time deciding res vs non res, but ultimately told myself I'm buying this exhaust for a reason and might as well go buck wild.

Out of curiosity, is there a break in period for the perrin catback. I just got
The nonres catback. I love it and it sounds great but it is loud and vibratory at 3k rpm which is annoying because that is my highway cruising rpm. Another issue is that at low rpm it is very deep, perhaps too deep which can get annoying in stop and go traffic. Does the sound decrease over time or should I find myself a resonated pipe

My Evo 3 definitely had a break-in period. As carbon built up inside the system, the loudness and vibrations tamed down a bit. I would be surprised if the Perrin didn't share this same behavior.

Incidentally, I'm switching my Evo 3 for the Perrin. I hope what you're describing isn't a resonant drone at 3K because that's exactly why I'm switching from my Evo 3.

Also, that's a fantastic deal you got, and incredible shipping speed too. I ordered mine during FT86SpeedFactory's black friday sale in November, the shipping ETA has changed a few times now with January 21 being the latest target. Consider yourself lucky!

Just an update - received my Perrin ahead of the revised ETA today on 1/10!

yes it's quite loud at 3000rpm but i find that as rev keeps going up the noise level doesn't really go up much.

i have the over pipe, cat front pipe and non res and mine doesn't really vibrate. i understand the low rpm deep sound thingy but mine occurs only when i let off the throttle. if i have a little throttle at constant rpm, there isn't much noise.

i haven't had mine for too long so i can't comment if it'll be quieter in the future, i certainly hope it will.

For me the Perrin headerback resonated with cat took a good week to settle in. The drone around 3k rpm (which was quite annoying) settled down significantly. Also whatever drone is left goes away nearly completely after everything is good and warmed up. It is the most noticeable for the first 10 minutes in the car after starting it up at 32F.

whatever you just described is spot on.
cold starts in the morning are so loud, not just because the car warms up at a higher RPM, but because my unresonated headerback with catted front pipe has a tinny/ raspy sound that happens around the same time. really annoying. Goes away after a a good 10-15 minutes of warming up.

you seem to be having the rasp? after the warm up though, the headerback is amazing. especially in tunnels hehehe...

it quiets down pretty significantly in the cabin. I put on a good 150-200 miles for mine to start noticing. I'm now at around 2300 miles in and i can say its pretty sweet...

hey Nardi, since you have the same set up as me, in the first minutes of driving, do you have a tinny/raspy sound when driving? i do and i'm hoping i don't have a defected catback. strange thing is that it goes away after driving and fully warmed up

^^ I don't notice any raspy at cold start. It's just loud and it settles into a nice quiet idle as it warms up.

Thanks for your info, I guess I need to drive it more!!

I did, I don't have the sheets and I didn't do before/after stock because I immediately got a tune, but with a tune I gained about 18whp.
