2forme has been in my car many times, he knows the sound just as well as I do. I have a catback, I do not have the front pipe or over pipe yet. The sound clips I posted are the best way to hear the difference between the two. The recordings are the closest you will come to hearing the exhaust without hearing it in real life. The sound clips are HIGH QUALITY, not YouTube quality (which is shitty) which is why I require you to download the .wav file and play it back on your computer rather than upload it to some website like youtube which would ruin the sound quality with compression.

I think I'm leaning toward Perrin resonated. I think I'll eventually go headerback, resonator should keep volume reasonable. Besides, if I ever get a Deuce and a half, that'll be plenty loud. (ear plugs needed if you open the window loud)

I think the overpipe is integral to maximizing the tune's midrange and upper mid band torque. It just makes things free flowing just the right amount without getting gassy down low, and only helps even more up top. As I go thru the process of testing the pre-release tunes Perrin's given me, I dont think the gains are as impressive down low without the overpipe, its definitely a restriction point in the OE pipe system, and can say that if youre coughing out for the tune, the over pipe is a no brainer for anyone who wants to maximize the tunes day to day driveability in addition to the extra 3-4hp. it all adds up, this is a cumulative add part. It adds power across the entire spectrum. I'd say on point with 100 bucks per horsie |

In my experience with exhausts, resonated, catted, and a muffler is always going to be quiet. In my current car, I had to put cats back on it because with the headers, I got a raspy sound at a specific RPM I didn't like and it was beyond LOUD. The cats tamed the sound a bit, but not a lot. The rasp ended, but when you gas it, you definitely hear there are headers.
This engine I'm assuming works the same. I'd personally go with unresonated, catted, versus no cat/unresonated. You'll get that nasty sound if you add a header that you will not like. Cats are pretty good at taming the sound to a nice level without really making your car "quiet". Resonators just further quiet the sound to the point where you have a second layer of muffling behind the cats, before it even reaches the muffler. Personally, I prefer cats on, resonator off versus no cats, resonated. I could be wrong, but this is what I intend on doing to my FR-S (ordered!) with the Perrin system even with a header in the future. It will give the loudness I want without being obnoxiously loud. Hopefully there will be sound clips with the various setups to get a comparison, but in person is always different. (Please use HD cameras ![]() |

For some reason my tips don't align properly. No matter all the adjustment I do, the tips just don't align. My left tip protrudes
more than the right when ur looking at the car from the back |

my tips seems to be fine and that's how i tighten the system up:
- align the muffler while both V clamps are loose; - fit the 5 collars to secure the muffler; - have someone holding the muffler in position, tighten the V clamps. once the V clamps are tighten, the movement is limited and if it does move whole cat back move as one piece. hope this helps. |
