2025 BRZ Turbo
I just saw that the other day.... on TorqueNews. Don't know how true it is, but seems plausible.
https://tinyurl.com/f98bvy2n Especially considering that Suby makes/sells only 350 BRZ/month in the US market. I am not sure this is positive news... hybrid on a heavy platform...smaller engine, but more power.... hmmmm. Do people like this? Last edited by OldBiker; 03-26-2023 at 09:49 PM. |

Had to check the date… no not 2013.
All they are missing is AWD. Lexus platform With a Toyota 1.6 3 cyl ? Dont think Subaru would be making a 100% Toyota. Torque news! : Ha Ha is it April 1st yet? |

I saw this article but didn't post it for reasons you will see. Personally I don't see why they would do only a 3 year run with the current car. Japan's ridiculous covid policies have set the supply chain back so bad that it may take til 25 to get new vehicle inventories back to normal imo.

why? what reason does toyota/subaru have to justify entirely replacing a motor in a vehicle 3 years into it's production run?
if anything i would've expected the motor to have debuted with the 2nd gen 3 years ago. bestcar is just throwing sh!t at a fan and seeing what hits the dart board. i'd have to check the official specs, but i believe one of the main reasons for the boxer engine has always been the hood height. i don't believe they'd be able to fit the 1.3 corolla motor with the vertical pistons underneath the hood as-is, and they're definitely not redesigning the hood for this.

I could see it happening.
It'll be just like the gen 1 where there is clearly room for all that....except OEM and factory fitment engineers are complete and utter morons for not doing it and giving the car its 400+hp that it deserves...... ![]() |

If the engine could fit low into the chassis maybe, they would also need to make sure the power delivery was smooth and linear ie: turbo lag. My suggestion would be to design the boxer engine to rev past 8.5K or supercharge.

Give it 10 years, they'll slap the STI badge on something.
