Look man the car gets 18 mpg rn combined and all I wanted to know was if a tune to lower fuel injection on normal driving or anything of that sort would net me more mpg. That is all. |

Long answer noooooooooooo. If you can give a link to the post, maybe someone can help. Edit: Ok, I can probably tell you what's wrong. Compression is too low. Valve springs too stiff. Probably more engine internals set for power and not efficiency. Wheels too wide, and you could probably put on touring tires rather than performance tires which I assume it has. Don't know about turbo sizing but smaller is usually more efficient.

Here is the hard truth, if gas prices and fuel economy concern you, it’s out of your budget. Unless you have real money in college, you shouldn’t have a modified car. But, if you absolutely have to own this BRZ, your solution is to sell the built engine and turbo kit and replace it with a stock engine. Then, if it has any other aftermarket parts on it that’ll kill fuel efficiency (e.g. park bench wing, heavy wheels, wide tires, body kits, etc.) you need to remove them. No amount of tuning is going to fix the fuel economy without blowing the engine the first time you step on the gas. |

Of course putting a stock engine in it will lose "car scene" street cred and Instagram likes so the car is useless if that is done. Of course it is also hard to be part of the crowd when your Super Car is sitting behind the garage with a tarp over it because you tried to down tune it and blew the engine up but can't afford repairs. But it appears we are all just... ![]()

If you're concerned with fuel economy, you probably won't be able to afford another motor, which will be needed at some point.

Whats the point of having a turbocharged car if you never drive it in boost?
