Would you prefer 2019 Toyota TRD or 2019 Subaru BRZ limited
Hi Guys,
I know that there is a lot of information about this here and there and I tried to get as much as possible. I just want to decide which one and move forward to finally get one of these cars. I hear you saying that comparing these trims is not the proper way but I really want the Brembo and Sachs. Do you have any preference one over the other based on important differences (anything related to the interior, exterior? meanwhile, this will be a daily car and I don't want to do any mods on a brand new car. Thanks in advance |

BRZ, the 86’s new front is really busy and I have one. I have days where I love it and days that I wish they would’ve just simplified the original bumper. BRZ looks good pretty much all the time. Check them out in person and you’ll probably agree.

I like the 86 but without the TRD kit. It just adds too much harshness IMO. The Varis front lip for the 86 looks a million times better (again just my opinion)

I don't mind the TRD interior, but I'm 50/50 on the body kit, and as much as I like to see a clean, black car, I've vowed never to own another black car. Plus, the TRD 18s look really heavy.
Between the two, I'd prefer the BRZ with a choice of exterior color and a good amount less $$. Of course, this is going to be your car, so go look at both in person and get the one that you can't stop thinking about. ![]() |

For what a used FR-S/BRZ costs, I would think about a nice low mileage one that's the right color. Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes could be installed on a used car. (most likely for less than the cost of a new car)
Additionally, the Brembos are really nice to look at. I mean, I would love to install the Brembo brakes that come with the PP on my car, but for street driving, they are 100% not necessary.

Toyota. There are too many Subarus, I'd rather be associated with the Supra / Celica / MR2 than the SVX / WRX / STI
EDIT:: forgot to add a reason. I prefer the look and badges of the Toyota, but definitely prefer the older models. I also dislike the new Subaru gauges with the little screen and fake dyno screen showing where you are in the powerband Last edited by DarkPira7e; 01-28-2019 at 01:27 PM. |

I'll join in - aesthetics are really the only big difference, so which do you better like the looks of?
I think the new Toyota front end only served to make the Subie's bumper look good in comparison. The FR-S still looks the best overall. I think I'd at least look around for a gently used, last-year FR-S first. But that's not what you're asking so all other things being equal, pick the one you like to look at. |

I’ll never understand how people can say
FRS bumper > 2017+ BRZ bumper After spending a lot of time looking at all four bumpers available for our cars from the factory, the FRS bumper is so plain. At least the new BRZ cleaned up the look by incorporating turn signal into the headlight etc. Plus the 2017+ improvements to the car are very nice. Even a lightly used 2017 BRZ is a great value right now over the older car, imo of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() Some may call it plain but I think the zenki 86 is classy. Personally, I've never been a fan of the BRZ's mustache. |

Arguing about which shape is "better" is about as silly as it get's anyway since appearance is 100% subjective. If I had to replace my car with a new one today it would be the BRZ. Not only does the bumper look "better" the price difference between the TRD 86 and the BRZ Limited just doesn't add the value I would expect.

Eh, it’s not any sillier than suggesting someone get the old car without the QOL improvements just because the front bumper looks “better.” The new BRZ did clean up the bumper compared to the older models. That is a fact as it has less cut lines/lights everywhere, plus slightly better daytime safety with the DRLs. It also gets a revised final drive, engine reinforcements etc. The OP wants the Sachs dampers etc. and I KNOW the 86 bumper is very polarizing, therefore, I recommend the PP or TS BRZ over the new/old 86 in this case. It’s a very conservative and handsome design compared to the 86 which looks very angry and would likely get more attention. The BRZ PP/TS also have a slightly tamer exhaust note than the 86 TRD.
