I'm such an amateur.
Well it helps my commute is 80 miles round trip 5 days a week, and we drive everywhere for vacations and such. I put about 20K miles a year on m daily driver and another 10K to 15K on our family Suburban.

That will change drastically in 2025 when I retire.

Meh, nothing wrong with a short commute.

All my cars are super low mileage for age. For 27 years My work was 8 mile round trip commute. I drive even less retired, except when my wife wants to see our son in Texas.

My highest mileage car is my 2005 pickup at 130k miles.

Finally managed to get an allocation. Getting the Heavy Metal grey color, manual transmission. Top trim, premium plus (replaces what used to be the Circuit Edition).

Stoked! ETA is Nov 14-25.

Sad to let go of the BRZ though..

any tips for letting go of a car??

I still have my single-owner 2013 FRS so... Get more parking so you don't have to let it go?

It's more than that though! No commute, insurance is more expensive here, etc.

Not practical having a second car hanging around at my salary level.

Just rip off the band-aid.

Ultimately, once you start enjoying your new car you aren't likely to miss the old one...too much.

I still miss my '85 Toyota MR2 and the 2013 FRS. Ultimately, you just can't keep them all, at least most of us can't.

I seriously considered keeping my FRS when I bought my LYRIQ but the cost of insurance, the lack of a parking space and the fact that at 230,000+ miles it was one breakdown away from being either worthless or expensive to repair.

I don't have the stomach to deal with doing a private sale so I took the offer from the dealer. I waved goodbye as I drove off in a new car that was faster, quieter and way more comfortable than the FRS could ever be.

I've had family prodding me about why I'm not trying a private sale and you basically nailed it on the head.

Plus I feel like the car really needs some buttoning up and a very good detail to be sales worthy anyway between the Haru hair and not being a garaged car outside. Plus the wheels are sadly pretty damaged at this point that it'd cost more than it's worth to try and fix 3/4 of them.

Ah well.

Welp, it happened.

Unfortunately today was like a legitimate mega storm. So getting home was 45 miles of trying to avoid crappy drivers in torrential rain and going through tons of puddles, lol.

I'm on-call this coming week for work, so break in will be a bit slow. But I'm excited.

Yeah. This was one of the worst storms I can remember in the Bay Area. Don't think I hydroplaned once despite pretty decent puddles in SF and then from 280 all the way to about 84. Then the freeway surface improved dramatically.

Ah well.
I had to get rid of my 86 somehow after i got my Camry. Dealer lowball wasn't acceptable (worst than when i got quoted a few months prior). I didn't have the luxury of waiting with a private sale (Someone was in the same boat as me and tried private sale, and i think their car is still listed, with a couple price adjustments). Ended up selling the car to a local broker. I didnt get what i ideally wanted but it seemed like the market currently just wasnt favorable for a 2 door RWD sports car (winter season, might have gotten more closer to what i expected during spring/summer) , so i took what i could get (still better than dealer lowball), and they were able to take my car away the day i needed it gone. Sometimes you just gotta take what you can get if you need gone sooner than later.

congrats on the car!

This sounds like a pragmatic decision given your circumstances. Selling a two-door RWD sports car in winter is always tricky, as demand tends to dip during the colder months when practicality becomes a higher priority for most buyers. Dealers often lowball on trade-ins, especially when they see market conditions working in their favor.
