Exclamation Alternator or Battery problem?

Was driving home from school the other day, when I noticed my battery light came on. After driving for a couple more minutes at around 40mph, every light on my dash had turned on. I eventually turned into a street slowly losing power of the car and steering ability (the power steering light was on and blinking). As the car died the electronics were the only things that were working. I attempted to jump-start to car, but nothing worked so I called a tow truck and had it towed back to my house. Once my car was home I scanned for fault codes and received fault code P0562. Which led me to think it was the alternator. Just wondering if anyone went through the same kind of experience.

A car without a battery will run if the alternator is good. If you have a battery and it won't run, there's a good chance it's the alternator.

Alternator. Charge the battery and start the car. Troubleshoot your problem from there.

The main tell here is loss of power steering. The engine will run on the battery but EPS relies solely on the alternator.
