On topic: if you currently have a twin, there is zero reason to get the 2nd gen. You’ll spend a lot of money for very modest gains in the long run. Every car is destined to be an old car. Save your money and keep the one you have. Since I no longer have a twin, and haven’t for 3 years, I’d probably do a gen 2 if I were inclined to get back into a sports coupe. It looks like a great drive and is drop dead gorgeous. Last edited by Quentin; 10-23-2021 at 01:31 AM. |

most likely better fuel economy with a smaller engine... I'm quite curious how much of a difference fuel economy would be between the 2 gens. Wonder if Gen 1 + 4.8 final drive gear upgrade would be worse off than a gen 2

Realistically, it will still depend on how you drive. I run in the 3-3.5K RPM range on the highway a lot and still get above 30 mpg when running mostly highways. But with the 2.4L, it seems that this rating will be a good bit different, and obviously more significant with an FD change. |

Remember most studies show that happiness tails off and plateaus after you make about 75k a year. Too many people these days just want to make as much money as possible but unfortunately it does not always lead to happiness. Best thing for kids these days is to find something you enjoy doing, work hard and more importantly smart and continue to learn. And by enjoy I don’t mean your hobbies necessarily because work can ruin a hobby for you. More something that interests you. I know that 75k number seems low for some (depends where you live as well), but I think too many people make more money and hate their jobs. Sometimes more money means you buy more shit you don’t really need. But back on topic. I think it’s simple. If you need a car the Gen 2 or Gen 1 will work out just fine. The essence is very similar and the Gen 2 is more refined and improved in stock form, particularly power. |
