It can be tuned out; it's electronic. Chances are this car will have a much more responsive throttle-by-wire system then say, a run-of-the-mill Corolla/Impreza.

If the cars did indeed have it, wouldn't the test reviews mention it?

I'm pretty sure at this point that the throttle works as it ought to; i.e. good throttle response and no rev-hang. With that said, if I notice differently, I won't be buying a BRZ. It's one of the main reasons I'm getting rid of my tC. The throttle response is crap at best, and the rev hang is hugely annoying.

I'll agree, based on the many reviews out, I am sure someone would have mentioned it. Thus far no one has. Several have praised the throttle response.
When my generation Civic Si came out lots of reviewers complained about rev-hang. |

That's interesting that you bring that up Subie. Even the Evo X has a little rev hang. I also find it to be very annoying! Sports cars are supposed to be responsive and predictable!

I've driven several inline-4's but only drove a boxer-4 once. At the time I had always thought they were rough because of how they sounded. Well once I got going at speeds I was really impressed with how smooth it felt. It's not a huge difference but it should be noticeable compared to inline-4's. The boxer-4 may not be a perfectly balanced layout but it's more balanced than any other 4 cylidner configuration and it's the natural firing sequence for a 4 cylinder 4-stroke as well.

Check out this review. The reviewer specifically mentions that the revs drop very fast. I don't think we have to worry about rev hang.

I think everybody has figured this out in the 5 years since the tread was made. Glad to see it is still confirmed though.
