As a poster pointed out previously the sensors aren't weight based anymore, it's a circuit. When it's wet or when a butt sits on it the circuit is closed. I had a cell phone that would cause it to trigger.

You could ask the tech to use their TechStream device and disable the chime altogether.

Have it fixed first of course.

Yeah this happened to me about two weeks. Left the windows cracked overnight and got rained on. Drove to work with the seatbelt chiming the whole way, but when it came time to go home it went away. I haven't had a problem with it since.

The car hasn't fully dried out yet, I'm hoping it goes away when it does. But has anybody else experienced this? I know there is an issue with cell phones setting off the alarm as well, so could this be related? I'm going to my dealership after work anyways, so I'll be sure to ask them about it and update here.

I don't remember where I read this but the twins use a new generation of sensor which registers a change in the seats electrical value that occurs when a person sits in it. That's why cellphones/tablets/laptops placed on the seat set it off. I could imagine water soaked seats causing some problems with a system like that

Totally forgot I commented in this thread. Thanks for the great info about the seat sensor being electrical. The sensor going off with my phone makes perfect sense now. Thanks for the help! And to the OP, hope you got your issue straightened out!

Today in the morning I decided to give my passenger seat a good cleaning and my air bag light came on no beeping just the light on the dash. Do you just have to wait until it dries up or is there something else I have to do?

Just let it dry. The sensor pick up the moisture but will be fine when it drys.

This exact same thing happened to me, it went away on it's own after supposedly drying on it's own, hopefully it does the same for you.

There is no mystery, issue, magic, supernatural, alien or any other unknown forces at work here. The sensors are not weight activated switches but simply detectors that read electrical conductivity. It should be common knowledge that liquids conduct electricity so if you get the seat wet it thinks there is somebody there. A phone, jug of milk, or even a bag of potato weighing only a pound can trigger the sensors.

What do you mean "supposedly drying on it's own"? You don't think things can dry out? Do you think the car is lying to you somehow? Elves slipped in during the night and dried it up?

It will be fine once it dries there is no "hopefully" involved.

It is even talked about in the owner's manual if anybody bothered to take the time to read it.

the sensors are extremely sensitive. Mine had a similar issue when i left a window cracked overnight. had to have the belt plugged in all day.

Still interested in how it "supposedly" dried out on it's own. The lack of faith that things can dry out perplexes me.
